Council has opened consultation on the review of the East Gippsland General Local Law. That is the law with the 28 day rule in it.

Twenty eight days is how long you are allowed to live in a tiny home on wheels on private property here. After that you move on, or you are breaking the law.

Council passed a motion last November to look at removing that barrier, and in March it put out the Homes for Everyone position paper. The review is now actually open, and Council is asking the community what it should focus on.

So if you signed the petition, or you watched Tiny Move, Big Impact, or you know someone sleeping in their car this winter, here is where you say something about it.

Five minutes.

1. Open the Local Law Review survey on: https://yoursay.eastgippsland.vic.gov.au/local-law-review
2. Question 3, tick Temporary accommodation on private property - caravans, tiny homes etc.
3. Question 4, tick it again
4. Where there is a comment box, say in your own words that the 28 day limit should go, and that a tiny house on wheels should be allowed to be lived in long term without a permit.

Mount Alexander Shire did this in June 2023. Ninety one per cent of the people who responded up there backed it. Nothing fell apart. People got housed.

Closes 12pm, Friday 2 October.

Every response gets counted. Please take the five minutes, and send this to someone who should too.

Wet week this week. These poor blokes had a google maps misdirection and ended up down a 4wd track.

First Electric Vehicle recovery ticked off.
