Keeping the Pilbara Clean, especially after the cyclone– Because Every Bit Matters
I am sharing some footage from my trip to the Pilbara last week—just doing my part to keep the seeds, soil, and fauna where they belong. It’s not just about compliance; it’s about caring for our environment, protecting our community, and saving money on maintenance.
The Hidden Dangers of Dirty Trucks & Trailers
Every truck and trailer that comes off a dirt job carries more than just dust—it carries real risks to the environment, road safety, and even your bottom line.
Fauna & Dieback Spread
Soil contamination isn’t just dirt—it’s a carrier for dieback, a devastating plant disease that destroys native ecosystems. Unclean vehicles unknowingly transport this silent killer from site to site, accelerating its spread and causing irreversible damage.
Chain of Responsibility – Safety First!
Loose rocks and debris flying off a truck aren’t just an inconvenience but a major hazard. A single stone can shatter windshields, cause accidents, and lead to legal consequences. Under Chain of Responsibility laws, owners, operators, and loaders are accountable for ensuring vehicles are clean and safe before hitting the road.
The Cost of Neglect
A dirty truck doesn’t just impact the environment and safety—it hits your wallet too:
· Mud buildup = Higher maintenance costs – Clogged valves, seized joints, and corroded components lead to expensive repairs and downtime.
· Cleaning costs double – The longer you wait, the harder it is to clean, driving up labor and equipment costs.
· Increased fuel consumption – Excess dirt and debris add weight, reducing fuel efficiency.
A little extra time spent cleaning could prevent costly fines, legal trouble, and mechanical failures, and even save lives.
safer roads, lower costs, and a healthier environment!
