Congratulations Rosi on this well-deserved recognition. Thank you for the outstanding work you do and for your ongoing commitment to safety on our roads!
This week’s roadworker of the week is Rosimere (Rosi), a Site Traffic Management Specialist (STMS) at Avada Traffic Management in Nelson.
Originally from Fiji, Rosi came to New Zealand with a background in hotel work. She began her traffic management career as a traffic controller in 2023, through her time on the roads she has come to love everything about the industry.
Rosi has progressed into the STMS role through hard work and commitment. She has steadily built her skills and confidence, taking on greater responsibility and developing a strong understanding of safe traffic management practices.
As an STMS, Rosi is responsible for planning and setting up safe and effective traffic management for roadworks, supervising her team, and ensuring the safety of both roadworkers and the public. Her day typically includes setting up sites, running team briefings, monitoring traffic flows, adjusting layouts as conditions change, and packing down safely at the end of each shift.
The role can be demanding, particularly during busy night shifts where heavy vehicles, tight spaces, and changing conditions require quick thinking and clear communication. Strong teamwork and attention to detail are essential to keep sites operating safely and smoothly.
What Rosi enjoys most about her work is the opportunity to keep people safe while working closely with her team. She values the sense of responsibility that comes with the role and the variety that each day brings, as no two sites or shifts are ever the same.
Rosi would like to acknowledge her team at Avada Traffic Management for their ongoing support, as well as the mentors who have helped her grow and succeed in her role. Thank you, Rosi, for your dedication to keeping our roads safe. Remember, whenever you see roadworks, slow down, follow the signs, and travel safely through each and every worksite.
