I am a licensed Nurse Practitioner that has worked in primary care and mental health for the past 10 years, and specifically with the veteran population for the past 2 years. I have experience completing all types of medical paperwork. Serving all of NS.

One of the first things they taught us was to never be alone. Always take your ‘buddy’.

But when you leave, you can become isolated from it all. The good and the bad.

Isolation can feel like being alone. There can be peace, and there can be turmoil.

You wouldn’t let your buddy go alone then. You don’t need to go it alone now.

Just like then, sometimes the worst of things can feel a little more bearable when you’re not alone.

And remember,

you may be isolated, but you are not alone.

Another winter day, another photo confirming why I want my drivers make the call if it’s safe to drive or not.

I left home 10 minutes ago. Schools are closed, so I go out expecting the worst.

Outside, it’s just a couple flurries. Just another storm warning in Nova Scotia, right?

Now I can’t see out the windshield, and I’ll be digging out my car before my client finishes their appointment.

If it’s safe, we’ll be there.
