One idea. Hundreds of Wind Phones around the world. 🌍🌬️📞

Amy Dawson is one of my heroes.

Amy discovered the Wind Phone while grieving the death of her beloved daughter, Emily. She found comfort in imagining herself sitting in Itaru Sasaki's original phone booth in Japan, picking up the receiver and dialling Emily's number.

But Amy didn't stop there.

She created My Wind Phone, a website and directory sharing Wind Phone locations around the world. What began from her own grief has become a resource for so many others.

When I first had the idea of creating a Wind Phone here in Mallorca, I contacted Amy for advice. She generously shared what she knew. We spoke again two years ago when we finally had the hospital on board.

And now, two years after that Zoom call, Mallorca's Wind Phone is becoming a reality.

Soon, we hope, there'll be another dot on this map - here in Mallorca. ❤️

A quiet moment inside the doors of a funeral home, after another family has entrusted me with one of the most difficult moments of their lives.🙏🏾

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me, accompanying families through the shock and grief following the death of a loved one.⚰️

This work is a huge responsibility. I have only one opportunity to set the intention and tone needed to help families navigate everything that follows a death.💫

When a death is sudden, there can be all sorts of additional complications. If it happens while a family is on holiday, it can be even more challenging, especially when another language is involved.🕯

When families or mourners share their experience of my support, it reminds me of the depth of my purpose and how meaningful it is to know that I have helped, even just a little.💝

Whilst in Wales last week, I visited my paternal grandparents graves to lay flowers and remember them. They are buried there with one of their children, my father's sister who was the 4th child of the six siblings and the first to die.⚰️

My first visit to the cemetery was when I was 8 years old, for my "Nain's" funeral. All I can remember of that day is that my younger sister and I played "roly-poly" on the grassy slopes nearby - obviously there were no graves dug behind my grandparents' plot back then.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Whilst this is not a natural burial ground (there are nearly 300 across the UK), it is outside the town with views over the Irish Sea and the peaceful atmosphere makes for a beautiful final resting place.✨️

La semana pasada, mientras estaba en Gales, visité las tumbas de mis abuelos paternos para dejarles flores y recordarles. Están enterrados allí junto a una de sus hijas, la hermana de mi padre, que era la cuarta de seis hermanos y la primera en fallecer.🙏🏾

La primera vez que fui al cementerio fue cuando tenía 8 años, con motivo del funeral de mi abuela. Lo único que recuerdo de aquel día es que mi hermana pequeña y yo jugábamos al «roly-poly» en las cuestas cubiertas de césped cercanas; obviamente, por aquel entonces aún no se habían cavado tumbas detrás de la parcela de mis abuelos.💖

Aunque no se trata de un cementerio natural (hay casi 300 en todo el Reino Unido), está a las afueras del pueblo, con vistas al Mar de Irlanda, y su ambiente tranquilo lo convierte en un hermoso lugar de descanso eterno.🕯

It was an honour for me to officiate the funeral of my beloved cousin recently. I went to Wales for this - my second funeral there as a celebrant - and I must say, from a professional point of view, what a difference.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Firstly, the time between death and the final goodbye is longer which gifts me more than just 48 hours to meet, write and approve the ceremony with a family.💫

The ceremonial aspect too is more to my liking as it's not just me who takes this seriously but also the funeral director who participates in acknowledging the deceased's final journey.✨️

Then the options for what to do with the ashes is filled with choice and so many beautiful ones as shown in these photos: remembrance with a glass leaf, plant a tree or have a headstone - all dedicated to a loved one's memory.💝

I shall be back to Wales again . And to my dear cousin Mark, rest in peace.🙏🏾

Para mí fue un honor oficiar el funeral de mi querido primo hace poco. Fui a Gales para ello —mi segundo funeral allí como celebrante— y debo decir que, desde un punto de vista profesional, qué gran diferencia.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

En primer lugar, el tiempo que transcurre entre el fallecimiento y la despedida final es más largo, lo que me da más de solo 48 horas para reunirme con la familia, redactar y acordar la ceremonia.💝

El aspecto ceremonial también me gusta más, ya que no solo yo me lo tomo en serio, sino también el director de la funeraria, que participa en el homenaje al último viaje del difunto.✨️

Además, las opciones sobre qué hacer con las cenizas son muy variadas y hay muchas alternativas preciosas, como se muestra en estas fotos: un recuerdo con una hoja de cristal, plantar un árbol o colocar una lápida, todo ello dedicado a la memoria de un ser querido.💫

Volveré. Y a mi querido primo Mark, que descanse en paz.😘
