Life lessons from the cut

You can't rush, fastest way to slow down as they say.

I arrived for this job last Wednesday but the steering cable hadn't been connected properly, so there was no way it was going anywhere.

It was fixed by someone on Friday and I was going to squeeze in a little 4hr move after my weekend of camping with friends and before getting on a ferry to see my mum in France.

I arrived, in the rain, having packed my tent up that morning. Luckily my camping game is fairly bougie and I had had a good night sleep.

The cable had been reconnected but the wrong way 😭

So forwards was backwards and backwards was forwards. Which wouldn't be the end of the world if it a*o didn't have the full range in reverse, which was forwards.

I couldn't take it out into the Thames like that.... But I also ended floating across the marina to another spot before I figured out what was wrong.

I managed to bring it back, remove some stuff from the prop was slowing me down.

I tinkered around a bit but the problem was the heads were too big for the throttle and impeding the cable.

The engineer was close and popped out and we sorted it and off I went, a good few house later than planned.

It was a stress, as I then missed the ferry but managed to get a later one and all was good in the world again.

Women in their 60's and 70's are delivering on every level in my opinion.

My mother is an inspiration for me, she met my father when she was 17 and they spent 43 very happy years together. He sadly passed away when she was 60 and watching her rise from the ashes and live her life so fully and completely is one of the great joys in my life.

I have had 3 amazing women in their 60's spend time with me this year. Heather, Yna and Grace and all have been true inspirations.

Grace always wanted a boat and had bought this little beauty to start her boating journey. She pushed herself on ways that surprised me and I love getting little updates when she moves.

I thought I'd share in case anybody else gets approached.

This happened a few weeks ago, I said no because I didn't like the idea of the podcast.

But then I saw someone post about another similar situation and I realised it was a scam. Which made a lot of sense.

So I thought I'd share in case anyone else is approached in this way.

The last few miles of the River Wey or Wey Navigation leading up to Pyrford Marina. .marinas

Love this marina and this trip down the Thames and on the Wey.

Had the perfect weather for it. I needed to postpone due to the heat. It was still very hot on Thursday but much better than it had been.

Day 2 of my boat move bringing a boat from reading to Pyrford Marina on the Wey.

I have absolutely loved this move despite having no water.

It gives me an excuse to go to the library for dinner.

I also, have moored in different slots to my usual due to things being slightly delayed. It's nice to see what else is out there.

Life ain't bad eh!!
