IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

The CB3 has a flat tyre this morning. It’s being repaired as we speak. Unfortunately, there will be no pick ups at South Perrott or Drimpton. The bus will be back on the road at 10.30am.

Who's planning a trip on the CB3 this weekend? 🚌 Very handy if you are going to visit Bridport beer festival 🍺

Community bus volunteers need people to help them operate a Saturday service that runs between Bridport and Crewkerne.

The team behind the CB3 Beaminster Community Bus have put out a plea for more ‘clippies’ to collect fares and issue tickets to passengers, help people to board and ensure the bus keeps to its timetable.

Volunteer Wendy Wallbridge (pictured with volunteer driver Tom Roberts) said: “Can you spare a few hours, or do you know someone who can?

“This important community bus linking Bridport and Crewkerne and villages in between operates on Saturdays only.

“We rely entirely on volunteers and are in desperate need of clippies to be able to keep this service going.”

The CB3 community bus project started in 2018, when Dorset Council donated a minibus that was surplus from its own fleet and helped to train up volunteer drivers.

Now supported by Beaminster Town Council, it picks up and drops off at Beaminster, Chedington, South Perrott, Misterton, Crewkerne, Drimpton, Broadwindsor, Netherbury, Melplash, Bradpole and Bridport.

The full timetable can be found on the Beaminster Town Council website, or you can call 07716 643087.

Cllr Craig Monks Beaminster Ward has been a volunteer driver with the CB3 for more than six years.

He said: “It’s genuinely one of the most enjoyable things I do. The passengers and people I meet along the route make every journey worthwhile; it’s a real community on wheels.

“The success of the CB3 has also helped me secure funding from Dorset Council for a new Saturday service, allowing us to expand our timetable and reach even more rural West Dorset villages.

“But the service relies on volunteers, so if you’re interested in joining us or would like to know more, please do get in touch.”

🚫 DIVERSIONS IS PLACE 🚫

Due to two road closures, by Wessex Internet, on the B3162 Chard Road and B3162 Bridport Road in Drimpton, the CB3 service is unable to use its normal route.

It has been decided that the CB3 bus will not serve Kithill/Lang Road in Crewkerne, Clapton or Drimpton until the completion of these roadworks.

Diversion route for the AM service is as follows:-

Normal route as far as Crewkerene Railway Station. Bus is then to turn around by using the Station Approach road or Station Car Park with care and attention. Wait time accordingly then operate on diversion via Misterton Swan Inn. Turn right at Misterton Cross onto the A3066 towards Beaminster and Bridport. Continue through Mosterton to Whetley Cross junction with B3164 and turn right at the corner triangular junction towards Potwell and Broadwindsor. On arrival at Broadwindsor The Old Bakery bus stop, await time until departure due and then continue as normal route to Beaminster and Bridport.

The PM return journey, the same diversion applies in the opposite order to Crewkerne Railway Station, again using the Station Approach road or car park to turn around. Then wait time at car park or Station Road bus stop to then continue normal route.

Please note, whilst on diversion, no passengers are to be picked up or set down as they will not be insured if any injury occurs.

Thank you for your understanding.

The CB3 bus was mentioned in parliament this week, by Edward Morello MP, West Dorset, as a good example of community transport.
