We had a Coventry family booked for a morning flight from Birmingham Airport last week. Two under fives, a rear-facing seat for the baby and a high-back booster for the older one. Because it was pre-booked, the seats were fitted and checked the night before, not hunted down at 6am.

If you have got a 7am flight booked out of Birmingham Airport this month, the packing is the easy part. The bit that trips people up is what time to leave Coventry.

Here is the rule we work to. For an international flight we aim to have you at the terminal three hours before. For a domestic hop or a short European route, two hours is usually enough. From a CV postcode that puts a Dubai departure at around a 3:45am pickup and a Belfast one closer to 4:45am, same 7am flight.
