A MOSTLY CLOUDY THURSDAY – 03/09/2026

Good morning, everyone! The Met Office is forecasting a mostly cloudy day with possible rain early doors. From 15.00 we could see some sun with the cloud lightening to broken. Temperatures will range from 19 to 21 degrees C, accompanied by light to moderate WSW winds.

All island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 07.30 this morning, and there are no further reported problems with either our roads or traffic.

MONDAY 31/08/2026 - WIGHTLINK FAST CAT OUT OF SERVICE TODAY

From the WightLink website:

Sorry, due to an ongoing mechanical issue, our Portsmouth Harbour – Ryde Pier Head FastCat service remains affected today, Monday 31 August 2026. While our FastCat vessel is currently unavailable, a shuttle service operated by a charter vessel is running between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier Head until further notice.

Please note that we are unable to provide exact departure and arrival times for the shuttle service. Crossing times are expected to be approximately 30 to 40 minutes and may vary depending on operational conditions. Customers with timed onward connections or commitments are advised to use our Portsmouth to Fishbourne car ferry service instead, where possible.

Our engineering teams will continue troubleshooting and repair work on our FastCat vessel, and we hope to return it to service as soon as it is safe to do so.

We sincerely apologise for the continued disruption and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Due to essential maintenance required to Red Funnel's East Cowes Linkspan, some late night/early morning sailings have been cancelled in September and October.

The following East Cowes-Southampton vehicle ferry crossings have all been cancelled:

September 6, 13, 20 and 27
Departing East Cowes – 1.30am

September 9 and 26
Departing Southampton – 11.59pm

October 4, 11, 18 and 25
Departing East Cowes – 1.30am

October 3, 10, 17 and 24
Departing Southampton – 11.59pm

Via County Press: Six Red Jet crossings have been cancelled this morning due to limited availability of crew.

The 6.05am, 7.15am and 8.25am services from Southampton and the 6.40am, 7.50am and 9am from West Cowes are all not sailing.

All other island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 08.00 this morning, and there are no further reported problems with either our roads or traffic.
