Good morning, everyone! It’s going to be a hot one! Blue skies all day, temperatures between 21 and 29 degrees C, accompanied by light ESE winds. Keep in mind that these temperature forecasts are in the shade. It’s going to be much warmer in direct sunlight.

All island travel services appear to be running to schedule, as of 08.30 this morning, and there are no further reported problems with either our roads or traffic.

Good morning, everyone! The Met Office is forecasting a hot and sunny day with blue skies throughout. Temperatures will range from 18 to 28 degrees C, accompanied by light and variable E winds.

SUNDAY 21/06/2026 - UPCOMING IOW ROAD WORKS AND CLOSURES

Orchard Road in Nettlestone will be closed from 8am on Monday, June 29, until 4pm on Friday, July 3. The restrictions are set to remain in place for the entire length of the road.

Bellevue Road in Ventnor will also face a closure on Tuesday, June 30, from 8am to 5pm.

Elm Lane in Calbourne will be closed from 8am on Monday, June 29, until 6pm on Friday, July 3. The restrictions are set to remain in place for the entire length of the road.

Heytesbury Road in Newport will be closed from 9am on Monday, June 29, until 6pm on Friday, July 3. The restrictions are expected to remain in place for the entire length of the road.

New Street in Newport will also be closed from 9am on Monday, June 29, until 6pm on Friday, July 3. During this time, the one-way restriction will be revoked for its entire length.

Bully's Hill in Brading will experience a one-night closure on Monday, June 22.

Havenstreet Main Road in Havenstreet will be closed for one night shift between Monday, June 22, and Wednesday, June 24.

Broadway Crescent in Binstead will also be closed for one shift between Monday, June 22, and Wednesday, June 24.

Atherfield Road in Shorwell will be closed for one shift between Tuesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 25.

Wilmingham Lane in Freshwater will be closed for one shift between Tuesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 25.

Mayfield Road in Ryde will also face a closure for one shift between Tuesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 25.

Warwick Street in Ryde will be closed for one shift between Wednesday, June 24, and Friday, June 26.

Linden Road in Newport will also be closed for one shift between Wednesday, June 24, and Friday, June 26.

Colwell Chine Road in Totland will be closed for one shift between Wednesday, June 24, and Friday, June 26.

Bedbury Lane in Freshwater will experience a closure for one shift on Friday, June 26.

Medina Way in Newport will be closed for one shift on Sunday, June 28.

Maresfield Road in East Cowes will be closed from 9am on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, until 6pm on Friday, June 26.

Flitcroft Gardens in Lake will be closed from 8am on Wednesday, June 24, until 4pm on Friday, June 26.

Sandown Road in Lake and Sandown Road in Shanklin will be closed from 9pm on Monday, June 22, until 6am on Tuesday, June 23.

Shore Road in Ventnor will be closed from 8am on Monday, June 22, until 6pm on Thursday, June 25.

Leeson Road in Ventnor will also face a closure from 8am on Tuesday, June 23, until 6pm on Thursday, June 25.

Godshill Road in Whitwell will be closed from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Thursday, June 25.

East Cowes Road in Newport will have a temporary 30 MPH speed restriction in place from 7am on Tuesday, June 23, until 5pm on Friday, July 3.

Esplanade in Ryde will be closed for one night shift between Monday, June 29, and Wednesday, July 1.

FRIENDLY CABS WILL BE CLOSED FROM WEDNESDAY 24/06 TO SUNDAY 28/06/2026 FOR THE ABR FESTIVAL

Now the IOW Festival has come to end, it's time for me to get ready for this years ABR (Adventure Bike Rider) Festival, where I'll be helping to run the CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) stand. As such, Friendly Cabs will be closed from 24/06 to 28/06. We'll re-open at 06.00 on 29/06.

A CLOUDY START TO A SUNNY FESTIVAL SATURDAY – 20/06/2026

Good morning, everyone! After a very cloudy morning, the Met Office is forecasting bright, sunny and warm conditions from midday onwards. Temperatures will range from 17 to 21 degrees C, accompanied by light WSW winds.

THURSDAY 18/06/2026 - SOUTHERN VECTIS BUS SERVICE UPDATES

❗️Route 5/9/N5/N9 - Fairlee Road Closure & Diversion due to Isle of Wight Festival 2026

17th - 22nd Jun 2026

Affected routes: 5, 9, N5, N9

Affected stops:

Hillside, S-bound
Whitehouses, SW-bound
Binfield Corner, NE-bound

Due to the Isle of Wight Festival, Fairlee Road will become one way heading in to Newport only.

Route 9/N9
From 10:00 on Wednesday 17th June until approx 16:00 on Monday 22nd June, all route 9 buses towards Ryde will operate via Staplers.

Also, all buses from Ryde to Newport will operate via Staplers only, between 08:55 and 19:20 each day of the festival starting from the Wednesday when the road closes. Outside of these times Route 9 will operate via Medina on journeys that would normally do so, but will be unable to serve bus stops at Whitehouses or Hillside.

Route 5/N5
From 10:00 on Wednesday 17th June until approx 16:00 on Monday 22nd June, all route 5 buses towards towards East Cowes will divert from Coppins Bridge via Staplers Road, Whiterails to Wootton High Street, Lushington Hill to reach East Cowes. Buses towards Newport will use Fairlee Road however may be delayed so please allow time for your journey. Whitehouses and Hillside bus stops will not be served during the festival.

Fairlee Road will also close in both directions each evening around 11pm on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the festival to allow festival goers to leave the site safely. This will be communicated to customers each evening when the closure occurs.

We apologise if affected and recommend allowing extra time for your journey over the weekend! ^BL

Due to an emergency closure on Blackgang Road in Niton Route 6 to Newport and Island Coaster to Yarmouth are unable to serve stops from Niton New Road to Chale Green Stores

Route 6 will divert from Niton Village Store via Kinggates, Appleford Road to reach Chale.

The Island Coaster will follow the same diversion to reach Military Road.
