Borders Wheels The Borders Wheels Community Transport Service operates a number of wheelchair accessible vehicles, supported by volunteer drivers.

Our service is available for individuals who need help with transport and community / voluntary groups.

For Volunteers Week 2026 we wished to recognise a superstar Volunteer - our Tam Tennant. We nominated him for a celebration award and off we went last night to Duns Volunteer Hall to a celebration event hosted by Borders Community Action
The event was an opportunity to come together and recognise the time, dedication and impact of volunteers across the Scottish Borders, bringing people together from communities right across the region.

TAM

Tam is a superstar Volunteer driver. Loyal and trustworthy, he works so very hard for us and our clients. He even works on Christmas day! He is tireless in his efforts to get clients to where they need to be and our clients love him and we all recognise the value he brings to our organisation.

Today during Volunteers Week we celebrate all our Lauder Shop Volunteers -

This is Beth, May and Shona. Some of our great team

They love helping in the shop and giving up their time for Borders Wheels and love how it helps our local community. All of them think that it's great that there is a charity shop in Lauder now and do their very best to support it. They all love a chat with our customers and help make sure each person that comes into our shop feels welcome; helping them to find what they are looking for, or even just for a friendly chat.

We are delighted to be off to such a great start in Lauder and are very thankful to our great Volunteers there - THANK YOU!

JEDBURGH - our Borders Wheels Charity Shop is filled with ACE Volunteers. Anna Shop Manager - Cathy, Mady and Nicola M rearranged the units in the shop to make more space, we love having David Silk with us on a Thursday and Charlie Grieve who did his Duke of Edinburgh with the shop and decided to carry on Volunteering with us - all of our shop Volunteers are great.

Janet - Shop Manager - Innerleithen - We have a wide range of volunteers aged between 15yrs -84yrs. The young ones came and did their duke of Edinburgh and then decided to stay on as they love working and meeting everyone that visits our shop and also learning new things. All of our volunteers are lovely and they love helping out when they can. The volunteers say its like a little social hub, meeting all of the visitors that visit us . All I would like to say is that all of my volunteers are wonderful and very helpful - I could not do this job without them.
