What started as a silly thought during a conversation with my wife a few years ago somehow spiralled into a full-blown business ideaโฆ and today, ๐
๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ฑ๐ข๐ฌ ๐จ๐๐๐ข๐๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐ฌ ๐๐๐! ๐ฅณ
From the very beginning, our aim was simple โ to provide a ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฒ, ๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐๐ฅ ๐ญ๐๐ฑ๐ข ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ ๐๐ง๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฉ๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ญ ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐๐ฌ. ๐
We wanted to bring a modern approach to a traditional local service, embracing technology with our own ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ, ๐ฐ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ง๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ , while still keeping the personal touch of simply picking up the phone or calling into a local booking office.
Most importantly, we wanted to build something that could ๐ค๐๐๐ฉ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐๐, ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐ค ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐'๐ซ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐จ๐.

We still remember our ๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐๐ฒ.
๐ The phone didn't ring.
๐ฑ The app didn't ping.
๐ฅ Our customer base was literally ๐๐๐๐.
At that point, you do start wondering whether you've made a massive mistake! ๐
Fast forward just 12 months and we've now completed ๐ญ๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ for customers across Houghton and the surrounding areas.
Looking back at where we started, that's something we're incredibly proud of.
๐ For the first few months, Fare Taxis was operated from our home. Since then, we've taken another huge step and moved into our own ๐๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ข๐ง๐ ๐จ๐๐๐ข๐๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ก๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐จ๐ง-๐ฅ๐-๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ โ something that felt a very long way away when we were sitting at home waiting for that first phone call!
But Fare has also grown into something much bigger than we originally imagined.
Over the past year, we've formed business relationships with companies across the UK, bringing regular work to our drivers and taking customers ๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐ฒ.
We've also had the opportunity to work alongside and provide transport for ๐ ๐ฅ๐จ๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ โ something we certainly didn't expect when we first started.
None of this happens without the people behind Fare.
A massive ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ to every member of staff and every driver who has been part of the journey so far โ especially those who took a chance on us and have been here since the very beginning. ๐๐
A lot of our team are quite literally family, but those who aren't have certainly become part of the ๐ฐ๐ข๐๐๐ซ ๐
๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐๐ฑ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฒ along the way. ๐
But the ๐๐ข๐ ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง๐ค ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ก๐๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ ๐จ ๐ญ๐จ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ฌ.
When we launched, we were a completely new and relatively unknown name.
You had plenty of other choices.
Yet you gave us a chance.
You downloaded the app.
You rang the phone.
You made that first booking.
You booked us again.
You recommended us to friends and family.
You shared our posts.
You left reviews.
And most importantlyโฆ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ค๐๐ฉ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐ค. ๐
Over the last year, we've got to know so many of our regular customers personally. What started with simply taking someone from A to B has turned into conversations, laughs and friendships โ and we're proud to say that ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฒ ๐จ๐ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ก๐๐ฏ๐ ๐ ๐๐ง๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ.
