L1-L5 Leighton-Linslade Changes

Following a network review and the opening of Leighton Leisure and Community Centre on Briggington Way, we will be making changes to the Leighton Buzzard Routes from Sunday 21st June 2026, including South Bedfordshire Dial a Ride journeys on L5. Changes are as followed:

Route L5 (Linslade – town centre – Kemsley Drive – Vandyke Road) will have a new timetable, and the route will change to run from the town centre via Heath Road, Kemsley Drive, Vandyke Road then return to the town centre via the current route including Clarence Road and Garden Hedge. The route around Linslade will not change. Apennine Way and Meadway will now be served by route L4.
Route L6 (Sunday circular) will be withdrawn, routes L1 and L2 will have an evening and Sunday service.

Route L2 (railway station / town centre - Hockliffe Road – leisure centre – Kemsley Drive) will have a new timetable, and the route will change to operate from the town centre via Hockliffe Road, then Briggington Way for the new leisure centre, and return via Kemsley Drive and Heath Road. Arriva route X2 provides an alternative direct service in to the town centre from Hockliffe Road. An evening and Sunday service will be introduced replacing current evening route L3 and Sunday route L6.

Due to a closure on Chequers Hill between 09:30-15:30, the 46 service will be unable to serve the normal route through Flamstead and will divert via the A5183.

Due to a closure on Stonesby Road, the LC3 will be unable to operate the normal route and will operate as followed.

From Melton Mowbray - it will operate the normal line of route from Melton Mowbray to School Hill, Sproxton, but instead of turning left onto Stonesby Road to Stonesby, it will turn right onto Saltby road into Saltby, back on its normal line of route.

From Grantham - it will operate the reverse of the above.

Stops missed: Saltby Road in Sproxton and the Green in Stonesby.

The closure on Linwal Avenue was not meant to affect the LC7, but since it closed at 11:30am (29th), the closure has crossed over the St Catharines Way junction, so our buses our unable to get through. From 11:30 on 29th May to 4pm on 2nd June, the LC7 is unable to serve the normal route through Houghton on the Hill and will need to operate via A47 in both directions.

Stops missed: Main Street, North Way, Thomas Close, Linwal Avenue stops in Houghton on the Hill.

Due to station road being shut in Heckington, buses will be on the following diversion.

37 service (morning) – Normal route to Helpringham (Nags head), then turn around in the Green (triangle road on the right), then follow the road to Scredington, at T-junction after village turn left, at the next T-junction it will follow the Mareham Lane into Sleaford, where it will turn right over the Railway line and continue to the Market Place.

37 service (afternoon) – Normal route to Market Place, then it will turn left at the Railway crossing, onto Station Road (s/p Scredington and Helpringham), through Scredington and Helpringham, where it will turn around at the Green (triangle), back on its normal line of route.

Stops missed: Fen Road in Little Hale, Magna Village Hall and Grove Street in Great Hale, and all stops in Heckington.

We are pleased to announce, we have been awarded the contract to operate the 27 service between Stamford and Peterborough, via Wittering, Wansford, Ailsworth, Castor, Longthorpe, from Monday 1st June.

The service passes through villages including Wittering, Wansford and Castor and is funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority. It will operate from 07:00am Monday to Saturday, with six journeys into Peterborough and four towards Stamford every day, with journeys to and from The King's School, Peterborough, during School Terms.
