IMPORTANT MESSAGE - PLEASE READ AND SHARE
In light of recent events, many of you may have come across a post regarding a customer who was picked up and claimed to have smelt a horrible ‘chemical’ smell. After a tireless investigation it has been established that the chemical was none other than Dettol all-in-one disinfectant spray. We are in the middle of a pandemic therefore our drivers are encouraged to sanitise their vehicles before and after each job to ensure the safety of passengers. Regretfully the product may have been used excessively which caused distress to the customer, therefore the driver has been advised to read the instructions on the bottle in order for proper application of the disinfectant, or alternatively use antibacterial wipes instead as they are not aerosol propelled. Sadly and ironically the product used to protect our customers and the driver himself was mistaken for a harmful chemical. We urge all customers to wear a mask whilst out in public settings, in particular public transport as per government regulations. We apologise whole heartedly to the customer and to the general public for the concern which may have been caused as a result of this customer experience and we would like to ensure that customer safety and satisfaction will always be at the forefront of everything we stand for. All of our drivers are self-employed and licensed by the Rochdale Council. This means that they are subject to an annual enhanced criminal record check and background check. The driver in question is a family man with a squeaky clean record and has passed these meticulous tests with flying colors for +15 years. He is understandably upset and confused and has devoted his time and attention to cooperating with our company and the police to resolve this matter. Royal and Crown are an established and respected business who have been serving the wonderful public of Middleton for over 30 years and due to the nature of the post and the vocabulary used, it has dented our credibility. It is our humble request to everyone; please share this post as much as possible so that we can eradicate any confusion or fear which may have been caused by this unfortunate turn of events.
