If you live in rural Cornwall, your taxi could vanish.
Cornwall Council wants to scrap local taxi zones. If they do, your village driver will disappear — gone to Truro or Falmouth chasing work.
No zones =
❌ No local driver
❌ No lift to the GP
❌ No way to get to work
❌ No help when the bus doesn’t come
And if you do get a cab?
💷 It’ll cost you more under the council’s new unified tariff.

🚨 URGENT: Cornwall’s Rural Communities Could Be Stranded! 🚨
To all Council Election Candidates across Cornwall,
I'm writing to alert you to a serious issue that will hit Cornwall’s rural communities hard — and it could become a major problem for the next Council. Cornwall Council is quietly pushing changes that would effectively scrap local taxi zones, drive up rural fares, and leave villages without vital transport links provided by taxi services.
This isn’t speculation — it’s exactly what happened after de-zoning the former boroughs in 1997, and rural Cornwall is still paying the price today. Now, Cornwall Council wants to repeat that mistake on a countywide scale!
We urgently need new councillors to stand up for rural residents and the taxi services that serve them before it’s too late. We need a commitment to protect rural services, not destroy them to save a few quid on paperwork.
