That “easy customer” or roadside emergency… might be a setup.

Across Kenyan roads, some riders are being targeted through fake ride requests, staged breakdowns, or suspicious passengers posing as genuine clients only for things to turn risky along the way.

🛑 Don’t Believe Everything You See or Hear. Do Ask Questions.

Before you pick or stop:
✔️ Does the request feel genuine?
✔️ Is the pickup/drop-off location safe and familiar?
✔️ Can you verify the rider or trip details?

⚠️ Some riders have reported being lured to isolated areas or redirected mid-trip, putting their safety at risk.

📌 Stay alert:
• Avoid unfamiliar, isolated routes especially at night
• Share your trip or location with someone you trust
• Trust your instincts if it feels off, don’t proceed

Your safety on the road comes first.

Don’t Believe Everything. Do Ask Questions. Ride Smart. Stay Safe.

🚨 TERROR ON HIGHWAYS

Motorists are under attack.

A major crackdown by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has exposed dangerous road gangs targeting unsuspecting drivers across Kenya’s highways.

These gangs:
⚠️ Pose as police officers
⚠️ Set up fake roadblocks
⚠️ Rob motorists in some cases stealing millions

Several suspects have already been arrested but the threat is still real.

❗ THE REAL QUESTION:

Are you safe on the road?

🛑 STAY ALERT:

✔ Avoid isolated routes, especially at night
✔ Don’t stop at suspicious checkpoints
✔ Report anything unusual immediately

📢 SPEAK UP. STAY SAFE.

🚀 A United Front for Rider Across Africa!

This week, the Africa Riders Network gathered at the Sarova Hotel, Nairobi, to chart a new path for our industry.

Our President, Calvince Okumu, represented DBDDAK in these critical discussions, uniting voices from across the continent to address the urgent need for better rider welfare and an end to platform oppression and discrimination.

As an association, we remain committed to advocating for fair treatment and sustainable growth for every digital rider. The future of the gig economy must be built on equity, not exploitation.

We are stronger together. ✊
