After 82 years of life,
the Commodore Hotel turned off its lights…
Not just as any hotel, but as a memory of Beirut—
a witness to joy, war, return, and resilience.
It wasn’t merely a place to stay.
It was a stop for journalists, for strangers who became family,
and for us… it was a companion on the journey.
From its doorstep, ACCAPAREUR TAXI cars would drive off,
carrying its guests, its stories,
and the details of days that will never come again.
We knew the faces, we knew the exhaustion,
and we knew that Beirut is still trying.
Today, we bid you farewell in silent sorrow,
and thank you for 82 years of trust, respect, and shared work.
The building may shut down,
but memories never close…
and the roads that brought us together won’t be forgotten.
Goodbye, Commodore Hotel,
a piece of Beirut… now gone. ♥️
