The route from Akkaraipattu to Kondawattuwana Tank in Ampara, Sri Lanka is a short inland journey through rural agricultural landscapes. The distance is roughly 25-30 kilometers and usually takes about 20-30 minutes by vehicle starting from Akkaraipattu town. Travelers head inland along rural roads that pass through small villages, irrigation canals, and wide paddy fields. As you approach the tank area, the surroundings become more open and scenic, especially during cultivation seasons when the fields are green. The Kondawattuwana Tank is an ancient irrigation reservoir that plays an important role in supporting local farming, particularly paddy cultivation. The area around the tank is calm and peaceful, with opportunities to see water birds and traditional farming activities. Early morning and evening are the best times to visit, as the weather is cooler and the scenery is more picturesque.
