Today but 500 years ago culminated - with the capture of Cuauhtémoc, Aztec tlatoani - a chapter in our history as a Mexican nation: The fall of Mexico Tenochtitlan into the hands of the Spanish invaders with Hernan Cortés as its leader.

We must reflect about this event, but today the most important thing must be to praise our indigenous past - with at least 4000 years of history - so that we never forget where we come from but above all, respect and change our attitude towards our indigenous communities of the present and add value to their legacy. We are ALL MEXICANS and we must treat each other as equals.

Today we pay tribute to our ancestors who fought to defend their city, their culture, their nation...
