Route & and load optimization comes probably first in our minds when discussing better transport planning methods.

This is true for some transport scenarios only, and most supply chain organizations can adopt and benefit from more general transport optimization strategies, that are easier to implement as well.

In our experience, as the majority of companies in the APAC region operate in manual XLS data environment, the easiest, lowest hanging fruit can be simply a review of existing rate structure and carrier allocation mechanism, that alone can generate 3-5% savings as a one-off exercise, ideally when combined with annual carrier bidding, which will typically generate additional savings.
