Multi-streaming across different platforms requires quite a bit of investment, so I’ve decided to reinvest some of my content earnings back into this part of my content creation journey.

Recently, I subscribed to a multi-streaming service that allows me to go live on YouTube and Facebook simultaneously.

The plan is to eventually expand this to other platforms like TikTok and Instagram as well.

It’s another small step in growing the Lazy Cabbie community and making it easier for more of you to join the conversation, wherever you are.

I keep coming back to this stall, not really for the fishballs or the noodles… but the fish cake. Usually, fish cake is just an extra tossed into a bowl of noodles. But here, it feels like the star!

I really like how they slice it. Not too thick, not too thin. Just the right size for a good bite. Slightly chewy, but still soft and easy to eat.

The flavour is also nicely balanced. Not overly salty, with a good fishy flavour without being too overpowering. There’s even a nice fragrance to it, almost like a hint of wok hei.

A bowl starts from $4, but I always top up another $1 for the bigger portion. Not because I need more noodles. I just want more fish cake. 😂

As parents, our instinct is to help whenever we see our children struggling. But I always believe we need to delay that assistance. Let them get frustrated and figure things out for themselves.

If we constantly remove every obstacle, how will they learn to overcome challenges when we're not around?

Resilience isn't built by making life easier for our children. Sometimes, we build it by giving them the space to struggle, while letting them know we're there if they really need us.

The moment I see mani cai in a dish, I won’t hesitate to order it. 😋

Mani cai, also known as sayur manis, is a leafy vegetable commonly associated with Malaysian-style cooking and is not something you see as often in local Singapore dishes.

I guess part of the reason could be that it takes a bit more effort to prepare, so it’s not as widely available here. But I really like the taste, so whenever I spot it on a menu, I’m always on the lookout for it.

This time, I tried the Mani Cai Hakka Braised Pork Rice with Egg for $6.90.

The mani cai didn’t disappoint. It has that slightly bitter, earthy taste with a subtle sweetness that comes through after you chew. That distinctive flavour goes really well with the savoury braised pork and gravy.

And the pork is chunky and juicy. The gravy is on the thicker, drier side, coating the meat really well. Very flavourful and goes beautifully with the rice.

Overall, a very satisfying meal.

I'm glad this franchise has now opened at Yishun, so I don't have to travel all the way to Orchard just to get my mani cai fix. 😂

I’ll definitely be back to try their signature kolo mee next time!

Growing up, we didn't need much to be happy. Going out with friends, playing football, cycling around the neighbourhood, or just sitting somewhere and talking could already make our day.

Nowadays, you can give children 10 things, and somehow they can still say, "I'm bored." 😂 They simply grew up in a world where entertainment and stimulation are available all the time.

We've gone from finding ways to entertain ourselves to having entertainment constantly delivered to us. Maybe that's why having more doesn't necessarily make us happier.

It used to be like this: Study hard. Get good grades. If you did really well, maybe go to JC, then university. If not, go to poly. Eventually, you get a job. Maybe you work in a bank. Maybe you join one of the big blue-chip companies. That was the idea of the future back then.

It wasn't necessarily that everything was guaranteed, but there was a certain sense of certainty. If you went to university, more or less, you expected to find a job. Even coming out of poly, you had a pretty good chance of finding work. It was quite rare to hear someone graduate and still be looking for a job six months later.

Today, it seems much more common. You hear about fresh graduates sending application after application, months after graduation, and still not getting a job.
Of course, there could be many reasons. Maybe some applicants are too picky. Maybe they are looking for a very specific job. Or maybe there are simply too many graduates competing for too few positions.

But there's something else that worries me. Even if you do everything right, study hard, get good grades and eventually land that dream job with a big company, is there really any guarantee anymore?

You could join Google, Meta, or another big company that everyone dreams of working for. And a few years later, the company restructures. Your department is no longer needed. Your role becomes redundant. And just like that, you're out.

Sometimes it's not even because you didn't perform well. The business changed. Technology changed. The company changed. And now we have AI accelerating that change even further. I think that's where the uncertainty becomes really stressful for young people today.

The Woodlands North RTS Station is finally officially completed. But just to be clear, the RTS Link itself hasn’t started operations yet. We’re still waiting until 2027, which is currently the earliest we’ll be able to take the train across to Malaysia. And when it starts, it’s going to be a game changer.

Five minutes. That’s roughly how long the journey from Singapore to JB is expected to take. Just imagine how convenient it will be to go to JB. It might not even feel like a day trip anymore.

Last time, going to JB was something you had to plan. You needed to set aside half a day or even a full day, clear your leave, deal with the traffic and immigration queues. Next time, going to JB could be like going to Orchard. Maybe even faster.

But while this is great news for travellers, I also wonder what it will mean for businesses on both sides. Things in JB are still very affordable after currency conversion, and that's one of the reasons so many Singaporeans love going there.
But what happens when the border becomes so easy to cross that JB becomes almost like another neighbourhood for Singaporeans?

Look at places like Bali. There are resorts and businesses that already accept Singapore dollars because of how many Singaporeans visit. With enough demand coming in, prices can eventually start to move closer to what people are willing to pay.

Will the same thing happen in JB? Will things gradually become more expensive until the savings aren't as attractive anymore? Or will new businesses and new opportunities pop up because of the increased flow of people?

Maybe more Singapore businesses will set up there. Maybe new malls, restaurants, services and attractions will emerge. Perhaps businesses will find new ways to cater to Singaporeans. We really don't know yet. But one thing is for sure: the RTS is going to change the way Singaporeans and Malaysians move between the two countries.

It's going to be an exciting time. And maybe, in a few years, saying "Let's go JB" will feel as casual as saying "Let's go Orchard."

We could be stuck in a hamster wheel, but sometimes, we allow ourselves to stay trapped in it.

After our 9-to-5 job, family responsibilities and everything else life throws at us, what do we do with the hours from 5 to 9?

For some of us, we’re simply too tired. We come home, have dinner, scroll through our phones, watch some TV, and before we know it, the day is over. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes, we just need to rest.

But then there are those who continue to pursue something outside of work. A hobby. An interest. Something they enjoy. Maybe it's learning a new skill, creating something, exercising, starting a small side hustle, or simply doing something that makes them feel alive.

That 5-to-9 window may only be a few hours, but what we choose to do with it can slowly change the direction of our lives.

It might open a new door. Lead to an unexpected opportunity. Or perhaps even become something bigger one day.

We spend so much of our lives working for someone else. Maybe we should also set aside a little time to work on ourselves.

There was a time when a family could function quite normally with one sole breadwinner and one parent staying home to take care of the family. The dynamics of a family were very different then.

Today, for many families, both parents need to work, especially when there are children. Housing, education, childcare, food and everyday expenses can add up very quickly.

I don't think families want to work more. They simply don't have much of a choice.

Times have changed, and perhaps the biggest difference between my generation and today's young families isn't what we want from life. It's how much it costs to build that life.

Having flexibility doesn't mean I can simply choose not to drive whenever I don't feel like it.
I still need to clock enough hours every day to cover my taxi rental and other operating costs. The bills don't stop just because I feel like taking a day off.

But what I do have is control over my time.
I can decide when I want to start driving, when I want to take a break, and when I want to stop for the day. If I need to attend to my family or have something important to do, I have the flexibility to work around it.

I wouldn't have that same luxury with a typical 9-to-5 job. So yes, being a taxi driver gives me flexibility, but that flexibility comes with a price.

That's the trade-off I'm willing to make.
