Our new Meshacket Route begins service tomorrow, June 19, providing a convenient connection between Meshacket Commons, Meeting House Way, Meshacket Road, downtown Edgartown, and the rest of the VTA network.

This new route was created to better serve a growing residential area and provide more transportation options for residents, workers, and visitors.

We look forward to welcoming riders aboard!

Due to a shortage of available drivers, the additional service scheduled to begin on June 19, including the trips highlighted in yellow and black on our route maps, will be postponed. All routes will continue operating on the April 10 - June 18 schedule until then.

Additionally, the start of Route 12 (Chilmark In-Town/Sunset Bus) has been delayed and is now expected to begin service on July 1.

We understand this may be disappointing and apologize for the inconvenience. Our team is actively working to recruit and train additional drivers so we can provide the level of service our riders depend on.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue working to serve the Island safely and reliably.

Thank you to the The Vineyard Gazette for recently highlighting the VTA's newest route planned for the Meshacket Commons area in Edgartown.

Beginning June 19, the new route is expected to provide service every half hour during the peak season, connecting residents along Meeting House Way, Meshacket Road, and surrounding neighborhoods with downtown Edgartown and the rest of the VTA network. The route was developed in response to residential growth in the area, including the recently completed Meshacket Commons affordable housing project.

We are excited to continue expanding transportation options that help connect Island residents to jobs, services, shopping, and community destinations.

Thank you to the Gazette for sharing the story. Be sure to check it out and learn more about this exciting addition to the VTA system.

A new bus route will begin operations later this month to serve vacationers and Island residents living along Meeting House Way and Meshacket Road.
