Imagine what it would be like with more pedestrian-only streets in #Fairfax and #Tysons – A Greater Greater Washington contributor has some ideas

The novel coronavirus has made crowded trails dangerous, parks forbidden, and taken most traffic off the roads. Could Fairfax County and VDOT open streets to pedestrians in Tysons and surrounding areas to provide a safer alternative for people who need physical activity?

Danica Roem - Virginia Delegate

This is a regionally significant project in Prince William County Government, Virginia. This project is fully funded with NVTA regional funds, totaling $54,900,000.

Regional impacts include:

- Reduced congestion and improve travel times
- Long-term operational improvements to Route 234
- Improved safety and operations

For folks in Manassas and Manassas Park who use the Prince William Parkway to get to Route 234 in Coles:
I'm glad to see the interchanges to remove the traffic lights along the PW Parkway at Brentsville Road and Dumfries Road are being funded by The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority grants and are due to be complete by 2023.
The March 25 public hearing was canceled; there might be a virtual one instead.
It appears there will be a light at each end of Bradley Cemetery Lane but just as someone who's lived in this area my whole life, there's relatively low traffic volume on that road so I don't expect the light to cause many delays or accidents though it might take some getting use to it.
