The 2026 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) International Roadcheck is scheduled for May 12–14, 2026. Over 72 hours, inspectors across North America will conduct high-volume, 37-step Level I inspections focusing on vehicle mechanical fitness and driver compliance, with special emphasis on electronic logging device (ELD) records and cargo securement.Key Focus Areas for 2026:ELD Compliance: Inspectors will heavily scrutinize records for falsification, manipulation, improper personal conveyance use, and tampering (e.g., using fake drivers to hide violations).Cargo Securement: A major focus will be on the proper, safe, and secure loading of cargo to prevent road hazards.Preparation and Expectations:Inspection Type: The primary focus is the North American Standard Level I Inspection.Locations: Inspections occur at weigh/inspection stations and temporary sites across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.Out-of-Service Rate: Data from similar initiatives suggests a high probability of violations, with approximately 30% of drivers potentially facing issues.Driver Checklist: Ensure driver qualifications, medical certificates, seat belts, and records of duty status are up to date and correct.Inspectors will also look for violations outside the focus areas, such as braking systems, lighting, and steering components.
