Lynden Chamber has renamed the bridge on Main Street. LOL. Have you been across the Bogaard Bridge?
TUESDAY TIDBITS: Catching Up Edition
Lynden Chamber of Commerce team member Gary had a morning catch up with Mayor Scott a couple days back, with Chamber members getting first listen, but now you are all invited to Morning Coffee with Vis & Korthuis https://bit.ly/41RMORP
Now, two "tings", as Oma used to say in broken english.
First, yes, it is an hour long. We cover a broad variety of topics, with some depth, and that takes time.
No, we won't make them shorter. A good chat takes time, at least for us, and no-one is obligated to listen, nor has to listen all at once. If a person wants to lend an ear, wonderful! A person doesn't? Why, that's just fine, too.
* Next Up: If you've driven past Bogaard Hay Company recently, the new Main Street bridge, which we will now dub Bogaard Bridge, roadway is a bit rough, and not just cheap one-ply rough, Lynden Family Dental Clinic "I need new fillings" rough.
The remaining asphalt work should be done next week or so, depending on weather, then the final touches, of which there are many, should take another month or two.
Tricky business, this bridge building...
* Tangled Threads Quilt Store is getting ready for Shop Hop, a huge shipping excursion for thousands of quilters. Want to learn more, about sock hop, quilting, and more? Give Tangled Threads at vist (corner of 6th and Grover) or call 360-318-1567, and they will take care of you!
* The Jansen Art Center is accepting submissions for the Spring Juried Exhibit, ends next Monday, March 13, at midnight. See their website at jansenartcenter.org for more info on how to submit. See the dumpster behind the Chamber office for our post-modernist submission, "Holstein on Fresh Field Grass in Spring", which the jury found guilty of all charges.
* Speaking of the "J", many of you are aware of the former JoFish Restaurant building across the street. Well, we're getting very, VERY close to the new place opening up, which the new owners have been working on since taking on the project during what one could term a "rough patch" for the food industry, April of 2020. That, however, is in the past, and now we look forward to...
* Are you following Oostema Farmstead? You may not stay there, you should, but you may not, but Lisa does an absolutely fabulous job a sharing about Lynden and all of Whatcom County. Plus, they have wagyu-cross beef on the Farmstead, for sale on Saturdays to the general public. One doesn't need to buy a whole side, but a person sure can kick up the meatloaf 5 notches, or have mouth-watering burgers that will knock your barn boots off!
And you should check it out so when the -laws visit, you can kindly tell them where to go. Or you can go. Whatever works.
* Well, that's it for this morning! Our morning coffee is ready, a new day of adventures is dawning, and YOU are loved all day, every day!
