Carrying Precious Cargo.

Tonight my 3 year old insisted he was coming along on a pick up.

We left about 6:30, had the pick up done before 7, and he was yawning on the drive home.

I turned around and asked if he was tired...

I swear he went from “no I’m not tired” to asleep in 30 seconds.

In typical #dad fashion I’m going to wake him up at sunrise for the dump run tomorrow.

Wife took me to Vegas for my birthday weekend.

I drove and paid, but she “took” me.

Aka talked me into taking a weekend off.

Last night while crossing the bridge to the @bellagio I looked down and saw this Smart car trailing a GMC.

From two stories above, it looks like you could hotshot this in the bed.

Has anyone tried?

For anyone wondering about my luck...

Doubled my money in blackjack in about 20 minutes, cashed out, and took the Mrs for sushi and $12 Miller Lites.

Couldn’t you have backed that in and used the gate?

Something your wife would say for 500. #alextrebek

4 couches a box spring, 20 pillows and a recliner.

Decided to pull in to the landfill sideways. I let gravity carry the couches over the rail and down into the dumpster.

Except, I forgot how heavy the one on the bottom was. Deep down there in the middle was a double recliner with motors and a metal frame.

I couldn’t get it up over the rail, so I got up there and stood it up and tipped it over.

Bam, it landed wedged between my trailer and the dumpster.

Had to pull the trailer up 10 feet, nearly tearing my license plate off. Tipped it up on end again and gave it a shove. It finally fell in.

Yes, I should’ve backed it in and lowered the gate, but I was already committed and didn’t realize I was being watched and judged.

So, I take my #stubborn ass back to the scale to weigh out and she says, “doesn’t your gate go down...”
You know the rest.

This one took two trips to the transfer station, a stop by the metal recycler, and about two hours to complete.

Park a car in your garage again.

These two pictures are 15 minutes apart.

This homeowner messaged me on Facebook and asked for help.

Two days later I pulled up and removed all of this junk from the garage.

And a pile of cardboard from the side of the house, plus some bush trimmings.

And a 5x5 pile of dog poop and grass from the back.

My trailer is full, but their garage is empty.

Helped the homeowner move the TV to the curb for pickup, and ended up taking the tire.

The chemical container and fryer full of oil is all that’s left.

Don’t wait until Spring to Clean.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Removed this pile for the homeowner today, they’re happy to have their yard back.

And I’m happy to help them get it back.

Took about 30 minutes to haul this to the truck with the help of her Fiancé.

I expected it all to fit in the truck bed, minus the chairs.

In the morning I’ll shoot a pic of the trailer in my stories.

But, what did I miss?

Dead center was a 50inch TV.

Not just any TV, but a TV I’ve never encountered before. Besides my days working at Sears selling them.

A TV that would cost you $15,000 in 1999, but is worthless today.

A Plasma display.

Thank God I had help because that damn thing weighed 100lbs at a minimum.

So... when you wonder why the guy hauling your junk away wants a picture or three for the quote...

Remember the first time you ever backed a trailer in?

Accepting a potentially damaged load.

A customer entrusted me to deliver her new couch and love seat from the store to her door.

I reached in the hole in the packaging, feeling around, the furniture felt intact.

So, I accepted it, and the risk, of having to return it for her.

This should have been a sign of what was to come.

See.. the job was to pick up and deliver the furniture, helping her husband bring it in.

Upon arrival, he wasn’t helping, it was all on me.

I forgot my dolly.

Quick, run home and grab it and return.

Tug the reclining love seat, it’s heavy as hell, into the living room and return to the trailer for the couch.

Finally get it through the door and into the living room, where I see her smiling ear to ear at the sight of her new loveseat, now out of the box and assembled.

The whole job, and day, could’ve gone to sh*t at so many points. But, I saw it through, and her smile erased every bit of doubt I had in my service.
