The Opium Den Productions/The Opium Den Studios Gear from API, NEVE, SSL, UREI, Gefell and many more! We are a small but fully capable audio studio on the outskirts of Atlanta.

We strive to make the recording process as easy and fun as it should be. We have the gear the big studios have, but at small studio prices. We specialize in indie rock, black/death/doom metal, punk and pop punk. We also do 2" 24 track tape transfers to 24/88.2K digital from 456/499 and 911 tape, 15 or 30IPS. Gear:

So 2020 amirite?

Late 2019 was challenging due to unforeseen issues. Nagging ear problems, having our website and backup server hacked and the data lost, as well as recurring water leaks in the studio seemed to destroy what was left of the year. 2020 was poised to be a huge year for the studio with a big push for advertisement and multiple big studio and video sessions planned.. Aaaand then cancelled and with that, our determination to stay open as a semi-commercial studio.

So lets talk about 2021.

After debating for a while even reopening, we've decided to push through and do it anyway and relegate 2020 to the "The year that shall not be mentioned" which I think a lot of people will agree with.

2021 will bring a lot of changes to the studio. Since 2020 became more of an introspective time of work on our own languishing projects, changes in workflow also became necessary. There were more requirements to recall work quickly and less need to rely on external hardware such as the medium-format mixer which is now being phased out and will eventually be removed. The old studio computer was also starting to show the wear of 8 years of nearly constant usage but that also required the change of audio converters from a proprietary system to a modern USB/AVB based system that allows visiting engineers to use their own computers to record if needed. A significant investment in plugins was also made. A few new mics were added and some upgrades to studio instruments have been performed.

2021 looks to be a great year if we can get through the last bit of 2020 so stay safe out there.

I'm pretty terrible about updating the social media stuff, but that's because there's always work to be done!

But now that the early season rush is over, it's time to jump right back into it!

We're still looking for more video work in music videos, short films, etc and we need more promo material for the revamped studio, so how about an insane deal combining these two things?

We need a studio promo video, shot in the studio during tracking/mixing sessions.. Soooo...

How about tracking and mixing a *single* while doing an in-studio music video.. FOR FREE as long as we get to use the song and video as promo material for the studio.

You get a single and a video, we get new friends and promo material! How's that sound?

The catch.. Looking for a full band in the heavier side of things like hardcore, pop-punk, and hard rock that is ready to track a single over the course of a day or two within the next month or so.
