To prevent picking from becoming a bottleneck in the logistics chain, the entire process must be reviewed and the least productive links must be eliminated, such as long journeys between the different locations where it is carried out.
There are 5 basic principles for maximizing warehouse efficiency:
✅ Avoid combining several references in the same location.
✅ Reduce the transit time of items, for example, through the use of belts or batch-type sorters.
✅ Horizontalize the tasks linked to picking, i.e., that all stages are carried out at ground level, and thus avoid vertical picking that requires greater facilities.
✅ Reduce as much as possible the number of different locations where picking can be carried out.
✅ Select the right storage medium according to the individual requirements of each product and its demand.

Para evitar que el picking se convierta en un cuello de botella en la cadena logística, se debe hacer una revisión de todo el proceso y eliminar los eslabones menos productivos, como por ejemplo grandes desplazamientos entre las distintas ubicaciones donde se realiza.

✅ Horizontalizar las tareas vinculadas al picking, es decir, que todas las etapas se realicen a nivel suelo, y así evitar el picking vertical que requiere mayores instalaciones.
✅ Reducir al máximo el número de localizaciones distintas donde practicar el picking.
✅ Seleccionar el soporte adecuado de almacenamiento en virtud de las exigencias individuales de cada producto y su demanda.
