At just over two years into his journey with Angaston Transport, Callum has already made a mark well beyond his years. From the day he joined our team back in March 2024, Callum has shown us exactly what determination, humility, and hard work look like. As one of our youngest drivers, he stepped into a demanding industry with a willingness to learn, a strong work ethic, and a quiet confidence that has only continued to grow.
Over the past two years, we’ve watched him take on every challenge thrown his way…from driving trucks and loading livestock, to carting stock, general freight and essential farm supplies across our region and beyond. No matter the job, Callum approaches it with care, skill, and pride, always striving to do his best every single day.
Driving trucks is only part of who Callum is. He’s also a devoted dad to his little boy, and a loving husband to his wife, Gracie. The same patience, commitment and kindness he shows at home are the same qualities he brings to our workplace, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
Recently, Callum was nominated for Young Driver of the Year, a recognition that made all of us incredibly proud. While he may not have taken home the title this time, we know just how deserving he was. This nomination alone speaks volumes about the driver and person he has become. His future in this industry is bright, and we truly believe this is only the beginning for him. Callum represents everything we value at Angaston Transport…dedication, resilience, growth, and heart.
We are proud to have watched your journey so far, mate, and even prouder to be part of what comes next. The road ahead is yours, and we know you’ll continue to do great things.

🎮 Another day, another mission for Funky at Angaston Transport…

Level 1: Load the sheep before the rain hits ☔🐑
✅ Mission complete.

Level 2: Deliver the sheep without getting bogged 🚛💨
❌ Mission failed… respawn required.

Who needs video games when your day job already comes with missions, obstacles, side quests, and the occasional mud trap? 😂

Funky might not play video games, but he’s out here living one every day, and somehow always seems to be having fun doing it.

Yesterday, we celebrated a very special milestone, our founder, Bruce Doecke’s 80th birthday.

80 years young… and what a life it has been.

For more than 50 years, Bruce has poured his heart and soul into Angaston Transport. This business has never just been a job to him, it has been his “bread and butter”, his purpose, his pride, and in many ways, an extension of himself. Long before early starts and long days became clichés, Bruce was living them, building something from the ground up with grit, determination, and a work ethic that has inspired generations.

Many of you will know Bruce as the man who could outwork just about anyone. The first to arrive, the last to leave, always with an eye on the next job and a mind on how to make things better. And yes… often doing it in those legendary short shorts that somehow became part of the uniform in the early days! Some things are better left in old photos… but they certainly tell a story.

But behind the hard work and dedication, Bruce’s journey hasn’t always been easy.

Over the years, he has faced more than his fair share of health challenges, and still recently, battling some very serious ones. Yet, true to Bruce’s nature, he has met them with courage, resilience, and quiet strength.

His journey is a powerful reminder to all of us, especially the hard workers, the providers, the “I’ll just keep pushing through” types, that while work is important, our health is everything.

Businesses can be rebuilt.
Schedules can be adjusted.
Deadlines can wait.

But your health, your family, and your time… those are the things that truly matter.

Bruce has taught us many things over the years, including the value of hard work, loyalty, commitment, and backing yourself. But perhaps one of the most important lessons his story teaches us is this: look after yourself, so you can keep showing up for the people and places you love.

Bruce, thank you.

Thank you for your vision.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Thank you for the countless hours, sleepless nights, and years of dedication that built Angaston Transport into what it is today.

And thank you for reminding us that strength isn’t just about how hard you work, it’s also about knowing when to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the journey.

Happy 80th Birthday, Bruce.
A true pioneer. A hard worker. A legend.
And thankfully… no longer wearing the short shorts (we hope).

Here’s to you.

We’ve been busy helping move Barossa fruit from vine to winery…fast, fresh, and ready for crushing. Vintage in the Barossa Valley is one of the most important times of the year, where timing is everything. Once picked, grapes must be moved quickly from vine to winery to preserve freshness and quality, making transport a crucial part of every successful harvest. The Barossa is home to some of the oldest continuously producing grapevines in the world, with many planted in the 1800s. These old vines often yield less fruit, but produce rich, intense flavours highly prized by winemakers. Each year, the region crushes tens of thousands of tonnes of grapes, with one tonne capable of producing around 700–800 bottles of wine. Wines from the Barossa are enjoyed across the globe and are a major contributor to South Australia’s economy. Vintage can run 24/7 during peak season, with trucks, bins, machinery, growers, and wineries working around the clock. Different grape varieties ripen at different times, meaning demand comes in waves and every load matters. The Barossa is known worldwide, but it’s built by locals…growers, tradies, drivers, and producers who keep the region moving. Angaston Transport has been carting grapes for over 50 years, supporting local growers and wineries through every vintage season, and we’re proud to continue playing our part, helping move Barossa fruit safely, efficiently, and on time. 🍇🚛🍷

Golden skies, dusty boots and the gentle hum of the truck winding down for the day. There’s something humbling about loading and unloading sheep while the sun melts into the horizon, like the whole paddock pauses to remind us how lucky we are.

We don’t just work in this landscape… we live it. We breathe it. We get front-row seats to nature’s best show almost every evening. The colours, the quiet, the way the light hits the backs of the truck.. it’s the kind of beauty you can’t manufacture.

And crazy to think we’re meant to be bracing for days of rain ahead, when right now everything feels so perfectly still and golden. That’s country life though..soaking up the sunshine while we can, grateful for every view, every load, every sunset that reminds us how privileged we are to call this “work.” 🧡🚛🌅🐑💛

Not the boss telling everyone he’s “hard done by” and work is sooo tough… meanwhile he sends through this pic of his “office” view, the stunning Murray River looking like a postcard 😌🌅

Don’t be fooled, people. Because apparently this is what “working-hard” looks like when you’re carting livestock across the country.
Thoughts and prayers for his very difficult day at the office 😂

Jokes aside,
He might have a pretty “office” view crossing the Murray River, but this man works harder than most people will ever see. Early starts, long days, livestock to care for, kilometres to cover…rain, heat or dust. So much pride in the effort he puts in every single day for this business. The views are beautiful, but the work behind them is no joke. ❤️🚛
