Microsoft Phone Call.
I just received a mobile call from 0452 572 518 and was told by the chap he is from Mircosoft.
He told me that they have been receiving warnings from my device [computer] that it is sending out a virus which causing trouble to the internet and coming from my software.
I told him I don't believe him as Microsoft would not make phone calls and my computer is scanned daily for malware and viruses.
I said I will forward this information to my IT person to sort and what is your number to call you back on. He gave me 60128824
He further said he has my license number details for my software and I asked what is it and he gave me a long number and letters which I wrote down.
He then told me I can check it and just go to my computer and he will show me.
In the meantime, while talking to him I searched: Does Microsoft make calls?
The answer was:
Microsoft does not send unsolicited email messages or make unsolicited phone calls to request personal or financial information, or to provide technical support to fix your computer. ... Error and warning messages from Microsoft never include a phone number..
He also said that they had to report the matter to the Police as it is sending out illegal viruses to the internet.
I told him great, send them around and hung up and blocked his number.
I am providing this as the person had all the answers and was very convincing and I will have no doubt has success from unsuspecting people.
Sick of people also calling me saying they are from the NBN and I just laugh and hang up and block that number.
