They came in for fuel. They left thinking about getting home.

That’s the feedback we’ve received from motorists who saw our “One message. One decision. One life.” Rural Road Safety campaign. What started as a one-month road safety commitment has taken an unexpected turn. After motorists began telling our staff that the messages had made them stop and think, we’ve decided to leave them above our fuel bowsers.

One customer told us she couldn’t stop thinking about one of the messages after driving away. Another said it had made her son think about how much his family would feel if he didn’t make it home. As CEO of On-Country Pathways, a learner driver program for indigenous youth, Jebb Hutchison says teaching drivers the importance of taking a break is a critical component of their training.

If a sign above a bowser gets even one more person to stop, swap drivers or grab a coffee before getting back on the road, it’s done its job.
