Uber is being sued by Australia's consumer watchdog over fears it sent misleading cancellation fee messages to two million users.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission today launched proceedings against the company, after it admitted to breaching Australian Consumer Law by displaying the cancellation warning to users between 2017 - 2021.

As a result, the popular rideshare app could be fined up to $26 million.
