Six of the world's seven sea turtle species call Australian waters home. With some of the largest nesting sites in the world, Australia plays a critical role in their survival. Yet every single one of them is either vulnerable or endangered. It's only through continued conservation work happening across Australia that their future remains hopeful.

This World Turtle Day, we're celebrating these ancient mariners, creatures that have navigated our oceans for over 100 million years, and the extraordinary places in Australia where you can witness them in the wild.

In the Kimberley, the tides don't just rise and fall. They force millions of litres of seawater through gaps in the sandstone so narrow, the ocean appears to run sideways.
