🙋You don't need to show your Carers Victoria Member Card or your We Care Card. Just the MPTP card
💲The card has a yearly limit (financial year), and the balance renews July 1st of each year. Passengers using the card can request a receipt from the taxi driver to see the remaining balance of their card
🧑🤝🧑A carer can’t use the card on their own, the eligible person you support must accompany you.
😀According to our sources, no taxi driver can say no to this card.
💲Taxi drivers must ensure that they are not charging any additional surcharges on MPTP payments.
🙋You can also use the MPTP card with Uber, Oiii and Get Picked Up.
👩🦽➡️When it comes to a disability: a person who is using a wheelchair for mobility and needs a wheelchair taxi, then they need a different card which looks the same, but it says, ‘wheelchair and scooter card under the multi taxi program’. A client’s doctor can apply for that card. The GP just needs to add an option online which includes wheelchair and scooter.
👩🦽➡️If the person already has a card but now requires wheelchair or scooter assistance, the doctor can update the details.
👩🦽➡️A person who permanently requires a wheelchair or mobility scooter does not need to demonstrate financial hardship to access the card.
👩⚕️To Apply or Update Your MPTP Card, a medical assessment needs to be completed online by your doctor, who then submits the application online to Safe Transport Victoria.
