Postcards from Weipa 📸

After all the excitement of our General Manager Jodie taking home an award, we figured it was about time we shifted the spotlight back where it really belongs… sorry boss 😆

Enter Chris, sending in his “postcards from Weipa”… except instead of beaches and cocktails, it’s red dirt, long roads, and a truck that’s probably seen more of Cape York than most of us ever will. 🚚

Out there, it’s not just a drive — it’s a full-blown adventure! One minute you’re rolling through clouds of dust, the next you’ve got a view that makes you stop (well… almost stop) and snap a quick photo before getting back to the job. It’s early starts, endless tracks, and a whole lot of stories!

So here’s to Chris and all our drivers — keeping things moving, finding the best views in the most unexpected places, and reminding us that behind every delivery is a pretty great story.

If you missed our latest posts, our General Manager Jodie took home the National Trucking Industry Woman of the Year Award at the Australian Trucking Association’s National Trucking Industry Awards last weekend 🏆

For those who might not know her story, Jodie has been part of the transport industry since the early 1990s. Starting out in her mid-20s alongside her husband Phil, she took a leap of faith into an industry that wasn’t (and still isn’t) always easy to break into!

Over the years, Jodie has worn just about every hat imaginable — from compliance and recruitment to finance, technology and business improvement. She has helped guide Jarratt Transport through decades of growth and change, always looking for better, smarter ways of doing things.

But Jodie’s impact stretches well beyond the office. She has served as a Board Director with both Transport Women Australia and the Queensland Trucking Association, and remains an active member of both. She has also had the opportunity to formally mentor the next generation of women entering the industry — something she describes as incredibly rewarding.

Her achievements speak for themselves — including the QTA Industry Excellence Award in 2025, and now the 2026 ATA Transport Industry Woman of the Year. Not bad at all if you ask us! 👏
However, what really drives Jodie isn’t the trophies — it’s the team, the safety record, and the belief that women deserve a genuine seat at the table in this industry. At a time when transport is facing real workforce challenges, she continues to strongly advocate for creating pathways and opportunities for women across all areas. As she puts it, “From corporate roles to operational roles, women can do it all.” 💪

Jodie will be the first to say this isn’t just her win. Every person she has worked with has played a part in shaping who she is today — from the tight-knit team at Jarratt Transport, to a very supportive family, and all those who have been part of her journey along the way. 💙

The cotton season has officially kicked off again, bringing with it early mornings, long days, tight schedules and plenty of moving parts behind the scenes. It’s a busy time across the industry, but also one that reminds us why experience and strong relationships matter so much in transport. 🚚

For us, this season also marks a big milestone. Our Managing Director, Phil, is into his 36th year in cotton! 😲 Over the decades, he’s seen the industry evolve, watched good and tough seasons come and go, and built a deep understanding of the logistics, timing and relationships that keep cotton moving across the country. 👏

And of course, it wouldn’t feel like cotton season without seeing those blue Jarratt tarps out on the road. They’ve become a bit of a signature for us over the years, and spotting them stretched over a fresh load is always a proud moment for the team. Not to mention, they still give our drivers a solid workout every time. 💪

There’s a real sense of pride in being part of another cotton season — supporting growers, working alongside great operators and seeing Australian freight moving exactly as it should. Here’s to another safe and successful season ahead! ⭐
