Big improvements are coming to the SMBI vehicle ferry network!

We're currently updating our SMBI vehicle ferry timetables and vessel allocations as part of preparations for the next stage of the Redland Bay Vehicle Ferry Terminal Upgrade.

As a result, bookings beyond 01 July are temporarily unavailable while these updates are completed.

We expect bookings to reopen within the next two weeks and will keep the community informed along the way.

Customers wishing to travel after 01 July can join our Forward Booking Notification List and will be notified as soon as bookings become available.

Please be advised that upgrade works will be taking place across the SMBI passenger ferry terminals from Monday 11 May to Friday 22 May.

Works will include improvements to parking and storage areas for e-scooters, bicycles and mobility scooters.

During this period, passengers are asked not to leave personal mobility devices at ferry terminals and to follow all temporary signage and directions in place.

Works will be carried out in stages across the islands, and some minor disruptions may occur while upgrades are underway.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these improvements are completed.

🛠️ Weinam Creek Jetty Update

Reflooring works are currently underway at Weinam Creek Jetty, delivered by Redland City Council.

Works started on 5 May 2026 and are expected to take around 10 days to complete. To help minimise disruption, crews are working overnight from 7:30pm.

During this time, passengers are asked to take extra care when entering and exiting the jetty and to please follow all signage on site.

Thanks for your patience while these important upgrades are carried out.

We were treated to not one, but two rainbows across the bay this morning!🌈

One at Dunwich, and one at Redland Bay Marina… and we can’t quite decide which one we love more.

Which one’s your pick?

This is unreal 👏

Local resident DJ has built his own timber versions of our ferries – a full vehicle ferry replica and even a passenger ferry letterbox.

The detail and colours are spot on. Well done DJ!

A milestone worth celebrating 🌻

92% of our local team is now trained through the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program.

Not all disabilities are visible, and travel can feel more challenging without the right support.

Across our terminals and vessels, our crew are trained to recognise the Sunflower symbol and respond with understanding, patience and care. You may also see our team wearing Sunflower lanyards, making it easier to share what you need.

We’re committed to making every journey more inclusive and accessible.
