Australia Adventure Days 33!🇦🇺🚙
Packed up our little slice of beach paradise and drove on. A dip at Mackay’s Blue Lagoon was the perfect detour (especially when the ocean isn't cooperating!). By afternoon, we landed in Airlie Beach—bustling, beautiful, and oddly familiar. We can’t shake the feeling we’re in Thailand! Australia is a chameleon: forests like Sweden, city vibes like Singapore, landscapes like Africa, and now tropical Asia. Absolutely mind-blowing.

Australia adventure day 32! 🇦🇺

Hiked to a rainbow-colored lake deep in the forest in the morning, went for a swim, then headed north all the way along Apis Creek Road — the longest straight gravel road we've ever driven, over 150 km. No houses, no people — just two cars, a few black wallaroos, and a troop of black pigs crossing our path. We thought we could finally chill when we reached the end, but nope — the real adventure started as soon as we hit the road to the beach campsite! Endless muddy, potholed tracks with water crossings everywhere, plus random cows blocking the way. Three cars ahead of us had to dig themselves out of the mud. After all the struggle, we finally found a perfect spot by the sea at sunset. Sat around the fire, watched the sun go down, and wondered if the crocs in the water might crawl up anytime 😅

Australian adventure day 31!🇦🇺🥾🌳

Packed up camp at BIG4 Carnarvon Gorge and waved goodbye to our kangaroo friends. Then we made our way to another stunning forest escape—Blackdown Tableland National Park. The colors here were absolutely breathtaking. Ending the night sitting by the campfire with loved ones, under a sky full of stars. So cozy. ✨🔥

: Australia Adventure Days 29 & 30!🇦🇺 🦘🌿

Our Yeppoon plan got washed out by bad weather, so we changed course and headed to Carnarvon Gorge instead. Best decision ever. The drive was stunning, and Iris & Isa were absolute angels—5 hours flew by!

Arrived at BIG4 Carnarvon Gorge Holiday Park and found it overrun with kangaroos! That tiny baby one might be the cutest thing we've ever seen 😍

Day 30: We hiked 11.5km through the jungle. Took us 8.5 hours round trip!! Iris walked the ENTIRE way herself—there AND back. Unbelievable. Isa walked all the way to the end (4 hours!) on her own little legs, though we carried her back 😅 So proud of these two!

It was hot—like, boil-your-blood hot. But 6 river crossings saved us. Dunked arms, legs, faces, even soaked our feet. Pure energy boosts every time 💦

: Australia Adventure Days 27! 🇦🇺🐢 🕷️

Found a huge huntsman spider on the campground 🕷️ Feeling lucky I didn't step on any last night.

Bundaberg has a totally different vibe — Jonas said it looks more like an American town. It's all about sugar cane here! We even rode the Aussie sugar cane steam train and did a tasting at Bundaberg Brew Drinks 🥤

Then tonight — something unforgettable. We joined the Mon Repos Turtle Tour and watched a mama turtle lay 125 eggs!! Also saw baby hatchlings swim to the ocean for the first time 🌊🐢 What an incredible night.

: Australia Adventure Day 26! 🇦🇺🌊🚙

We decided to face our fear and take the Manta Ray Barge Ferry beach pass again instead of the inland road — and WE MADE IT this time. Safely arrived on the mainland. Fun is back on!

Chilled at Rainbow Beach in the afternoon, then camped at Woodgate — a beautiful, spacious spot among the woods by the beach. First camping fire ever! Warm, cozy, under a full moon and stars. ✨

But the flies and mosquitoes were insane. AND spiders were literally EVERYWHERE on the ground. They light up like water drops at night with a flash — so creepy! 🕷️
