Be willing to get a T condition on your licence in order to drive passenger transport vehicles
Complete a Police background check.
Be at least 25 years old.
Be medically fit to drive a public transport vehicle.
If required, complete an English language test of conversational English.

Keep an eye out as you move about in Port Macquarie for a bright pink taxi adorned with
promotional signage for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Port Macquarie Taxis has welcomed a new addition to their fleet designed to catch your
attention and assist the Taxi company to give back to the Mid North Coast community by raising
awareness of worthwhile community issues and provide a means to gather financial support for
Sick Kids who may require medical assistance from the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

General Manager of Port Macquarie Taxis, Mr Geoff Jackson said “Our pink Taxi will be driven by
a predominantly female driving team assisting this fundraising project. Research shows that
25% of females feel uncomfortable travelling in taxis.”

“We have carefully selected drivers for this initiative. All our vehicles are fitted with in car safety
camera, GPS Tracking, real time monitoring by real people in Call Centres and two way
communications. This is a safety standard that app-based competitors cannot replicate.”

Port Macquarie Taxis driving team has several female drivers. Geoff said “a number of females
are joining our driving team and we welcome interest from new recruits who would like to come
aboard with us, it’s a great way to meet people, provide transport for those who require
transportation within the community and help us make a difference”

The first supported project for the Pink Taxi is the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation
entitled the Sydney Sick Kids Appeal.

Geoff commented “Country Kids get sick too and it can be very tough on families who may have
to spend periods of time in Sydney seeking specialist attention for their unwell children. Funds
raised from this appeal will go a long way toward relieving this burden for local residents who
find themselves in this predicament.”

The Pink Taxi in the future will roll out support for a few projects each year. Geoff added “We
plan to refresh the signage on the Pink Taxi 2 or 3 times each year to support varying Community
Based issues and are pre-planning future support for Breast Cancer research and then
supporting the Leukemia Kids”
