🚛💨 WE NEED HELP! 💨🚛
The Australian transport industry is suffering, and we need help.
People can say “whinge, f$&king whinge” all they like, but this is bigger than transport operators complaining about the price of fuel. This affects every Australian.
There are so many owner-drivers and small transport operators struggling to keep their businesses going. Even the big operators must be feeling the pinch — although we don’t hear much from them.
People are watching everything they have worked so bloody hard for disappear, and it feels like no one is listening.
We’re hearing about ships carrying fuel sitting offshore. Who ultimately pays when costs throughout the fuel supply chain increase?
Not the politicians. Australian businesses and Australian consumers do.
Transport companies can only absorb rising costs for so long. Eventually freight rates have to increase, and those costs flow through the supply chain until YOU pay for them at the register.
And it isn’t just food.
Think about almost everything you buy, use in your home, need for your business, or see sitting on a supermarket shelf. Road transport plays a critical role in getting those goods where they need to go.
Behind every truck is a driver.
Behind that driver is often a family.
And behind many of those trucks is a small business owner doing everything they possibly can to keep freight moving, pay their employees, pay their bills and provide for their family — while still trying to charge customers a reasonable price.
For many of us, transport isn’t simply a job.
We love what we do. It’s a lifestyle. It’s in our blood.
But loving this industry doesn’t mean we can continue operating when the numbers simply don’t add up.
TO OUR GOVERNMENT:
We aren’t asking for special treatment.
We are asking you to listen.
We are asking you to understand what sustained high diesel prices are doing to Australian transport businesses and the wider community.
We are asking you to sit down with the industry and work towards practical solutions that can provide genuine relief.
Because if more owner-drivers and transport businesses are forced off the road, the consequences won’t stop at the transport industry.
They will flow through to every Australian.
Road transport is one of the backbones of this country.
