It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our colleague and friend, Duncan Boyes.

Since joining the De Bruyn’s Transport team earlier this year, Duncan made a lasting impression through his hard work, dedication, and the positive attitude he brought to those around him. More than just a co-worker, he was a friend to many and quickly became a valued member of our Devonport team, transporting cement across Tasmania.

Duncan will be remembered not only for the work he did, but for the person he was and the impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Duncan’s family, friends, and all who are grieving this loss.

Rest easy, Duncan.

A few familiar faces from throughout the years.

From West Coast Transport to De Bruyn’s Transport, it’s the people who have always been at the heart of the journey. Looking back through the archives, we're reminded of the friendships, hard work, and memories that have helped shape who we are today. 🚛

A line-up we’re proud of. 🚛

Every truck on the road represents the people behind the job, the freight trusted to us each day, and decades of commitment to doing things properly. Proud of where we’ve come from and the team driving us forward.

We’ve recently rolled out our first A-double set in Tasmania, featuring a Euro 6 FH600 Volvo with Barker skel trailers and a Barker dolly. Running between Burnie and Bell Bay, it’s a strong step forward in how we move freight across the north. 🚛

It is with sadness that we share the passing of John de Bruyn (1944–2026), who passed away last week.

John’s story is closely tied to the early foundations of our business. In 1953, his father Cornelius de Bruyn established C De Bruyn’s Transport, based out of Launceston. In 1965, Cornelius went on to purchase West Coast Transport in Burnie, supporting the region’s mining and sawmilling industries. John moved with his young family to Burnie to manage the operation, taking on the responsibility of running the business during those formative years.

He remained in that role until 1978, when Bert de Bruyn and John Snr and their families relocated from the Netherlands and purchased the business from Cornelius and his sons, John and Jack.

Following this, John returned to Launceston where he established his own earthmoving venture. Known for being hardworking and mechanically minded, these qualities were evident throughout his time at West Coast Transport and carried through into his later work.

He will be remembered as someone who played a meaningful role in shaping the early direction of our company, and whose contribution remains part of the story we carry forward today.

Our thoughts are with his family and all who knew him 🤍

We’re proud to work alongside industries across the state, including the aquaculture industry, keeping things moving every day. Porcha and Piper are a great example of the kind of people we’re lucky to have in our business, with industries like this providing strong jobs and opportunities for our team.

Today we recognise Dirk Simons as he finishes up in his role as Store Supervisor at MMG Rosebery after 26 years.

At MMG Rosebery, our team looks after the store and manages freight deliveries underground as part of the work we do on site.

Dirk has led this team since 2000, providing steady leadership and support while helping maintain a strong and reliable operations on site. He now returns back to our Burnie Depot to work in the yard, where his journey with us first began more than four decades ago in 1981.

Join us in congratulating Dirk and feel free to share a story or memory in the comments.

A glimpse into the past and the early days of our work with the mining industry. While a lot has changed over the years, our focus on doing the job properly and building long-term relationships with our customers has remained the same.
