Over the past few years, the taxi industry in Charlottetown has changed significantly. Due to the lack of regulations and limits on new taxi companies, many new operators have entered the market with no BYLAW or BUSINESS HST NUMBER. Unfortunately, this has created confusion for customers and has negatively affected the reputation of established taxi services.
City Taxi Inc. has proudly served PEI for over 50 years. We want to make it clear that City Taxi Inc. is NOT affiliated with the following companies:
• Charlottetown Taxi
• PEI Online Taxi ( worse company most complains )
• Shaheen Taxi( worse company most complains )
• Swift Taxi
• Royal Taxi PEI
• Taxi 4545
• Go Cab PEI ( scam )
• A-drop Taxi
• Prince Taxi
There are also two rideshare services operating on PEI:
• Kari
• Uride
These companies operate independently and are not connected to City Taxi Inc.
Recently, many customers have contacted us regarding lost wallets, cell phones, keys, languages, overcharges, and poor service, believing they were dealing with City Taxi Inc. In many cases, the ride was actually provided by another company. Some operators have even used “City Taxi” on payment terminals, creating further confusion for customers.
City Taxi Inc. continues to operate with established standards, professional dispatching, experienced drivers, customer support, and transparent pricing. Our rates remain among the most competitive in Charlottetown.
For your own protection, whenever you take a taxi:
✅ Check the roof light
✅ Note the cab number
✅ Record the license plate number
✅ Keep your receipt when possible
If you believe you have been overcharged, treated unfairly, or have concerns about unsafe driving, please report the incident to local police or the RCMP. If you see anybody speeding or overcharging, immediately call the RCMP to report it.
