Summer Safety Reminder: Drive and Ride Sober
As the weather warms up and summer arrives, the Brant County OPP would like to remind the public to enjoy time with family and friends responsibly.
If you choose to consume alcohol or legal drugs, do not operate any vehicle, including an ATV, personal watercraft, boat, rowboat, canoe, or kayak. Impaired operation charges apply on both land and water, just as they do when driving a motor vehicle.
Plan ahead by arranging a safe and sober ride before you go out. Whether on the road or the waterways, making responsible choices helps keep everyone safe.
The Brant County OPP will be actively enforcing our roads, trails, and waterways throughout the summer with ATV patrols, bicycle patrols, Grand River checks, and RIDE programs.
Let’s work together to keep Brant County’s roads and waterways safe for all users.
The OPP continues to prioritize road safety through proactive enforcement and public education. Impaired driving—whether by alcohol or drugs—and distracted driving, remains one of the leading causes of serious collisions and fatalities on Ontario roadways.
Anyone who suspects impaired driving or boating is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately. Your actions could save lives.
