Good Morning

We hope everyone made it through last night's storm safely.
We know many people were affected and are now struggling. Our thoughts are with you all.

Id like to add that I am just a small town country lady running a page that has become very popular in a world that is always changing and technology increasing. Im a millennial and Im not the best with technology. This includes AI photos shared to me that I than post unknowingly. If this happens I urge you to kindly reach out to me and let me know if something posted is not right.

We strive only to help and want to avoid AI posting whenever possible. Yesterday we recieved numerous vulgar, rude and hurtful messages_comments 😢 💔 that were not necessary.

So if you find yourself removed or blocked from the Emerson Taxi page hopefully someone will tell you why.

Emerson Taxi WILL NOT tolerate rude, racists or degrading comments or messages directed towards us or anyone else a part of this page.

If you feel the need to attack people dont be surprised when you find yourself removed and blocked without notice. This page makes zero $ it is for information only and I will be damned before I allow abuse of any kind.

Thank you to everyone that shared info last night and to those that nicely reached out to me when necessary im very grateful 🙏

Some updates from around the valley in random order:

The Lenswood highway is open with a single lane. It is possible to drive from Minitonas to Swan River. It will be worked on again tomorrow.

Hwy 83 south of Swan has an inch or two of water over it yet. The police will let you drive on it after they warn you that you have no insurance on the closed portion. Be careful.

Water is dropping around and in Swan River's south side. Much of the area is beginning to drain.

Heavy equipment has arrived to start rail line repairs. It is shown below staged for work on the line. You can see one of the washouts in the back ground.

Hwy 83 south of Benito is in bad shape. Much of it is missing. You shouldn't drive on it.

Hwy 10 between Swan and Minitonas is destroyed in more than one location.

The cut on highway 10 has relieved pressure on the houses near there. If you are following the Darin Hubschur comments, he isnt wrong. But, the town asked for it and we agreed to it. They felt it would make a difference.

Wab Kinew will be touring parts of the flooded areas tomorrow. He is expected to be in Swan River and Minitonas.

Swan Valley West did declare a state of emergency this morning to allow us to repair the Harvey Lake dam. That is the only use of the emergency powers we have needed all day, or since the flood began. It changed nothing about if you will receive disaster assistance. It also changed nothing about your home insurance. It changed nothing about how much provincial and federal aid the municipality will receive. Not declaring it until it was actually needed also gave several people something to complain about online.

And if youre one of the fine people posting that I'm a jerk and have no idea what it is like to lose property or things I care about... thanks! You have clearly realized I've spent the last two days doing my job and not letting any personal distractions get in the way of making the best decisions possible for everyone in Swan Valley West. I appreciate your support.
