Another long day on the Pacific Ocean. π³
The customer of this newly purchased 1965 Mustang reached out to us asking if we could bring it from Victoria to Burnaby. We of course said sure and put him on the schedule. However, he needed it right away. He stated that this car is his wife's dream car, but there was a catch. It needed to be right away, and on a day when they were at the cancer clinic so it could be delivered when she was not home. Customer stated she has limited time left and was hoping he could spend one last summer with her cruising with the top down..... This one was definitely important and emotional. π₯
I was all alone at the pickup location. I was told of a hidden key that would access the garage. Was told to go down beside the house, through 3 gates, 2 with codes, (which I was also given), all to access the Mustang. Opened the garage door, opened the driveway gates, found the hidden key to the car, she fired instantly, no gas pedal given, 289 came to life without hesitation. π€
Loaded her up, and headed to the ferry, (tight for time so I left the top down until I got to ferry). Started to sprinkle as I got to the ferry, at which point the powered top came to life. π¦ π
Once in Burnaby, I was able to unload, get it positioned exactly as the customer requested, a quick wipe down, and left before they got home. Within about 30 mins of delivery, the customer called me and thanked me, with a crackle to his voice. The emotion in his words was thanks enough. He may be buying another for them to cruise to summer shows together, of which he said we're his first choice of transport providers, for which, we are grateful. π
Money makes the world go round, sure. It dictates most things in our lives. But at the end of the day, we need life in order for the money, or joys that it can bring, to affect us. It took devastation to finally "live" how one has always dreamed of. Makes me wonder why we live all our lives with the notion of "maybe someday", for it to most likely be never until its too late. π
Morgan Freeman said it best in "Shawshank Redemption". Get busy living, or get busy dying. β€
