June is here, which means many of us are finally trading in our long sleeves for some T-shirts. But after months of Canadian winter, our skin isn’t exactly ready for long hours behind the wheel in full summer sun. ☀️
Truck drivers spend countless hours exposed to UV rays through windshields and side windows. The summer sun can creep up on you quickly, especially on the left arm resting near the window for most of the day. A little sun might feel great after winter, but too much can quickly turn into burns, skin damage, and long-term health concerns.
As the temperatures climb, remember to make sunscreen part of your daily routine. Apply a high SPF before hitting the road and reapply throughout the day when possible. Parking in shaded areas during breaks, using window shades or UV-reducing tints, and staying hydrated can also help protect your skin during those long summer hauls.
A healthy driver is a safer driver, and nobody wants to explain a bright red “trucker tan” at the next stop. Stay safe, stay hydrated, and take care of yourselves out there.

Strawberry season is here, and we’re sharing a quick and easy AIR FRYER muffin recipe… yep, you heard that right, air fryer muffins! 🍓
These muffins are soft, fluffy, and bursting with fresh, juicy strawberries. Perfect for breakfast, a quick snack, and they freeze beautifully too.
🍓
Ingredients
• 3 cups all-purpose flour • 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
• 1 cup granulated sugar • 2 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1 teaspoon almond extract
• 1/2 cup milk • 2 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, diced
🍓
Instructions
-In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
-In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
-Add the eggs and milk, mixing until fully combined.
-Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until the batter comes together.
-Fold in the diced strawberries.
-Grease your muffin tins with cooking spray or melted unsalted butter.
-Spoon about 3 tablespoons of batter into each muffin cup.
-Place the muffin tin into the air fryer basket. Air fry at 320°F for 12–15 minutes, or until the muffins are golden and set in the centre.
Best served warm… if they last that long. 🍓

One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives. ❤️
At Skelton Truck Lines, our partnership with Canadian Blood Services represents something bigger than transportation. It represents people helping people.
Every day, blood donors across Canada and the world give complete strangers a second chance, supporting accident victims, surgery patients, cancer treatments, and countless medical emergencies where every second matters.
We are proud to support the important work Canadian Blood Services does to keep life-saving resources moving where they’re needed most. Behind every donation is compassion, generosity, and humanity at its very best.
This World Blood Donor Day, we encourage everyone who is able to consider donating. One donation can make a life-changing difference for someone in need.
Because sometimes the smallest act can have the greatest impact.

This photo slid into our DMs with little more than: “Hey, I have an old photo of one of your trucks.”
And sure enough, it does look like one of ours. The colours are right, the stripes are right, but somewhere along the way, the name on the door disappeared.
Our guess is that this truck was sold after putting in years of dependable service, which is a natural part of fleet rotation in the trucking industry.
But what stands out most is that someone saw the value still left in her and gave her a second life on the road.
That’s something we take pride in at Skelton Truck Lines. Strong maintenance programs, proper care, and attention to equipment don’t just keep freight moving safely; they help extend the working life of a truck long after it leaves our fleet.
For many owner-operators and small businesses, trucks like this become an opportunity to build something of their own. We have to say, there’s something special about seeing a piece of our trucking history still out there doing what it was built to do.
If anyone has information about this truck or remembers this photo, we’d love to hear the story behind it.

Meet Brian 🐾 Brian is best friends with Glen and Lisa.
Brian has been working at Skelton for a number of years now and he takes his job very seriously. Whether he’s helping scout out the best parking spot, supervising the yard crew, or greeting everyone with a friendly face, Brian is always ready for the next mile.
At Skelton Truck Lines, we know the road can feel a little more like home with a loyal companion beside you. We’re proud to be a pet-friendly carrier and love seeing the special bond between our drivers and their four-legged co-pilots.

June is recognized across Canada as Commercial Vehicle Safety Awareness Month, an important reminder that safety on our highways starts long before the wheels begin turning.
From proactive maintenance to responsible driving habits, every detail matters when it comes to keeping drivers, fleets, and the motoring public safe. Here are a few important reminders for drivers and carriers during inspection season and beyond:

1 - Complete thorough pre-trip inspections
Check all lights, tires, brakes, fluid levels, and ensure cargo is properly secured before every trip. Preventative checks help avoid costly downtime and improve highway safety.
2 - Stay compliant and organized
Keep logbooks updated, permits accessible, and review carrier safety profiles regularly to ensure everything is current and inspection-ready.
3 - Prioritize driver wellness
Fatigue management is critical. Taking proper rest breaks, minimizing distractions, and staying alert behind the wheel helps everyone get home safely.
4 - Adjust for changing conditions
Weather and road conditions can change quickly. Slowing down during rain, fog, or heavy traffic helps maintain control and reduce risk.
At Skelton Truck Lines, safety is more than a requirement; it’s a responsibility we carry every mile.

Clear roads, blue skies, and a fresh season ahead.
As the days get longer and the weather turns, it’s a great reminder of why we love what we do, moving forward, mile by mile, with a view that never gets old.
Here’s to a strong month ahead, safer drives, and brighter days on the road.

We often share photos captured by our drivers as they travel across the continent, offering a glimpse into places many of us may never see.

But this time, Slava reminds us that sometimes the best views are closer to home. This great shot from beautiful Port Perry, just 30 minutes from our main terminal, is proof that you don’t have to go far to find something worth capturing.
Thanks Slava for the great shot!
