Bertschi Zhangjiagang has successfully passed the Together for Sustainability, or TfS, audit. 🌱 The result confirms that the site has been independently assessed against recognized sustainability criteria for suppliers in the chemical industry.

The audit covers areas such as management systems, environment, health and safety, labour and human rights, and governance. For Bertschi Zhangjiagang, the successful audit reflects the site’s work in areas including environmental protection, emergency preparedness, employee safety, compliance, internal controls and risk management. 🥂

Tank containers are well suited for multimodal chemical logistics because the same unit can move across different transport modes. 👉 👈

A tank container can be moved by road for the first mile 🚚, transferred to rail 🚂 or short sea 🚢 for the long-distance part, and then delivered by road again at destination 🚚. This reduces the need to transfer the product itself between different tanks during the journey.

We recently welcomed a group of retired invoicing colleagues back to Dürrenäsch for a warm reunion and an insight into how much the invoicing world has changed over the years. 💛

The program started with a look back at how invoicing and releases were handled 35 years ago in a time when many processes were still manual. This was followed by an introduction to today’s IT invoicing landscape and for many of the retired colleagues, it was a chance to see first-hand how the systems they once worked with have developed into today’s digital tools. 💻

In chemical logistics, a good location is only useful if it is connected to the right network. 📍

A terminal, storage site or service centre creates value when it links into transport routes, equipment pools, local teams and other nearby sites. 🤝 This is what gives planners more room to work when conditions change.

For customers, the effect is practical. A shipment can be routed differently. A tank container can be stored closer to where it is needed. Equipment can be positioned with less delay. A change in production planning does not always have to become a larger logistics problem.

This is one reason Bertschi has built its network around major chemical regions, import hubs and intermodal corridors over many decades. 👍

Our annual Subsidiary Managers Europe Meeting has just come to a close! Bertschi managers from across the continent came together in Antwerp for two valuable days of presentations and discussions, with an agenda focused on the key challenges and opportunities shaping our industry.

A highlight of the meeting was the opportunity to experience Antwerp as one of Europe’s most important logistics hubs, including a tour of the Port of Antwerp and our Antwerp Zomerweg Terminal.

A big thank you to everyone who helped bring this event to life.

We recently opened up our doors to eager teens who've started thinking about where they want to start their apprenticeships next year. The Bertschi Apprenticeship Information Afternoon is an annual introductory event to the different apprenticeships we offer at our locations in Switzerland. It was a great success, with the prospective apprentices and their parents getting a full tour of headquarters, meeting the program mentors, and getting a small taste of each apprenticeship. This way, they can make an informed decision about applying to Bertschi, and starting their careers! 👯👍
