The Maritime Workers Union Nigeria (MWUN) has threatened to shutdown seaports, jetties and oil gas platforms nationwide

According to the Union's head of media, John Ikemefuna, this decision was taken due to the Union's dissatisfaction of the International Oil Companies (IOCs) refusal to comply with the nations extant laws.

The MWUN then laid this thread because it had reported the complaint to the Nigerian Port Authority since 2018 and till then nothing had been done.

So they saw no other objection than threaten the shutdown of seaports in the country.

VESSEL REVIEW "ESTHER AFUA OCLOO" SPILLS CLEAN UP VESSEL DELIVERED TO GHANA MARITIME AUTHORITY.

The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has recently acquired a new oil spill vessel into service.

This Vessel was named in memory of the late Ghanaian Businesswoman and Banking advocate Esther Afua Ocloo. It came in due to the rise in demand for oil spill responses services.

According to the GMA, this rise in demand is caused by the rapid expansion of port and offshore activities in the country.

So the best way to minimise damage and reduce the time for environment recovery, was to acquire a new vessel that will be able to have all the equipment to clean the oil spill in waters.
