Had a wonderful day out in the grey 2CV - a surprise for my wife. Riberac market in the morning and an afternoon down at la Grand Étang de La Jemaye. Took a slow potter back up to Aubeterre with a few photo opportunities on the way. A great little car to drive - and such fun!

If you're looking for a day-trip idea that's not too far from Tour de Canard HQ, how about the beautiful Lac Jemaye? It's situated in an ancient forest in the Dordogne.

A 35 minute drive away, it's a perfect spot for a swim and picnic and with plenty of footpaths, you can walk around its perimeter, spotting wild animals and birds as you go.

Nous adorons le Périgord mais il est vrai que la mer manque souvent aux enfants, là c est parfait, l eau est plutôt chaude, le sable fin est un plus c est clair. Le parking et l acces sont gratuits ce qui n est pas...Plus

We're very happy to receive this letter from a recent customer:

'As promised, I've attached some photos of the 2CV - it was such a great little car. It travelled to Margaux, Sarlat, Rocamadour and Perigueux and went so well in 42 degree heat and in the rain... quite a feat for any car, let alone a lady who has been around the block a few times.

We really enjoyed our holiday in France, and staying at Les Chambres de CoCo was a highlight - Joanne and Hayden are lovely, and the accommodation was superb.

My apologies for the huge megabyte file - the photos are the culprits.

This Thursday, our home town of Aubeterre opens up for the summer night market.

It's usually a great atmosphere with live music, food and plenty of interesting stalls to browse.

Aubeterre-sur-Dronne, where we are based, is officially classed as one of Les plus Beaux Villages de France / The most Beautiful Villages in France.

Head either east of west from us and you will reach St Jean de Cole or Talmont-sur-Gironde, also awarded with this classification, and each making a beautiful day trip from our base.

At this time of year, in any direction you go, you will be driving through fields of beautiful sunflowers. It really is one of the nicest places in the world.
