It’s that time of year again when my inbox gets whipped up into a Glastonbury style frenzy. From September 1st I start taking winter bookings from my regular/returning clients.
Why do returning clients get first dibs? Simply because we want to repay our customers loyalty by giving them priority. We’ve been in the business for over 25 years and many of our customers have been with us since the early days.
We have seen so many children in our vehicles who have grown through all the car seat stages and are now coming to Morzine with their Uni friends or work colleagues! This makes me feel very old but very happy at the same time…..
So come on you regulars, get on your starting blocks on Tuesday and send me your winter transfer requirements. Ideally fill out the form on my website so I have all the information in one place please.

We would love to hear from new clients too but you will have to wait until September 15th. Don’t worry, you will be reminded….

Last week was one of the highlights of the summer season. For several years now we have been working with an agency in Paris who organise summer holidays for children to Morzine. These children have often been dealt tough cards in life, be it the area they live, the colour of their skin or family situation…. or all of the above.
These kids can often merely dream about travelling to the places that us more fortunate ones have visited. These are kids who are often stepping out of their Parisian suburbs for the very first time, getting on the train and coach and spending a week in our beautiful valley. We take them to and from the activities in the area from rafting, climbing at St Jean and donkey treks at the Lac Mines d’Or.
Some of these children have never seen a real cow before so just picture their faces when we drive past a field full of cows with bells around their necks! In the past we have heard comments about the giant Babybel they had at lunch (I presume this was a reblechon) and the fact there is no McDonalds on the rue du Bourg. I saw one kid picking up a very dry cow pat thinking it was a frisbee and the look of disbelief when I pointed out the Col du Cou being the Swiss border.
I never take where I call home for granted - even less so after working with these great kids. I’m already looking forward to seeing the next group in 2027 ❤️

Because Meta limits my word count….
You are still smiling on the day I pick you up to take you back to the airport. A Chernobyl strength glow of contentment and lack of sun cream. The only tell tale signs of a lads MTB trip to Morzine are the weird sunburn marks on the back of your legs from the straps of your knee pads and the gashes on your forearms when three Tremplin pints deep you thought the luge down Pleney would be a good idea.
Lads MTB trips really are the epitome of happiness. I am looking forward to seeing you all next year. The Mutzig will still be strong, Champery black just as steep and that Dad bod will still look good in your body armour.

I see a lot of different types of clients throughout the year and as you may know from my winter posts, I am observing the lot of you. I love the summer season as our work is more varied and we meet such a wide range of holidaymakers; families, couples, multigeneration groups, thrill seekers, sporty, less sporty, sun lounger lizards, groups of school kids and those of you who are simply fed up of frying on Costa del Scorchio with the masses.
Everyone has a great time on an Alpine holiday however I can categorically say that the happiest by far are the Dads MTB trips. You are in your 40’s or 50’s and are way past the lads trips to Malia, not necessarily fans of winter sports and are quite simply like a bunch of kids let loose in a sweet shop with no budget and no adult supervision. You are grinning your way into arrivals with your bike packed away in that Evoc bag you got for Christmas and very little else. The conversation in the minibus on the way to resort revolves around the Pink Bike fantasy league, comparing Strava segments and how last year you all shat yourselves pretending to be Danny Hart down the Champery black. Half way up the mountain Mark (not his real name obviously), regrets putting his wife’s call on speaker when she announces “If you come back with a broken arm I swear that I will break the other one”. Apparently she isn’t too keen on solo parenting while you are throwing yourself down Pleney….
I often see you out and about in resort during your holiday with those perma grins on your faces. I see you pushing your bikes in the morning up the Rue du Bourg with a smile, the body armour is on, covering those Dad bods and making you feel like invincible 20 year old Ninja warriors. I see you at lunchtime grinning like Cheshire cats with that much deserved pint and a tartiflette (despite it being 30°c). The fact that you have obviously forgotten to pop the factor 50 in the Evoc bag doesn’t seem to be an issue (for now). In the evening you look like the happiest men on earth with that distinct middle aged man glow of 80%sunshine, 20% Mutzig and zero regret. The Dad bods are free of the armour and the pints and burgers are in abundance.

Two photos summing up our season perfectly!
Blue skies, glorious sunshine, private transfers and MTB trips to Bernex bike park.
Summer 2026 is far from over with heatwave number five loading. But as we all know even the most canicule of canicules is bearable in the Portes du Soleil.

Yesterday, at the airport I witnessed a complete driver meltdown when a group of clients rocked up at the designated meeting point with their bikes on these boxes. Boxes big enough to contain an entire IKEA flat pack fitted bedroom each.
This is exactly why when you send me your transfer request that I ask for more information when you tick “Travelling with bikes”. Road and mountain bikes can be transported in hard cases, soft bags (my favourite) or cardboard boxes- all of varying sizes. I often go as far as to ask clients for exact dimensions to avoid situations like the one I saw yesterday where the driver knew in a glance that there was no way he was going to get the larger than average boxes into his vehicle.
We have a covered trailor, spacious minibuses and have been known to remove rows of seats to cater for luggage.
This also applies in winter with those large board bags, aka “people smugglers dreams” or “baggage handlers worst nightmares”

Booking a private transfer with Transport Citadelle isn’t just about ticking boxes in a form. It is a personal service often with more emails and communication than your average transfer company

(PS, I’m not naming and shaming the company in full panic mode I saw at the airport but I will say it definitely wasn’t one of the reliable, local companies in Morzine or Les Gets)

In this day and age of QR codes, social media, WhatsApp etc, we still get asked “Do you have a business card?”. So here they are. An excellent job by Imprimerie Monterrain , of course with the logo and design by . I probably could have got them cheaper online but I’d much rather keep it local, and I seriously doubt the service or quality wouldn’t have been as good!
