🚕 Street Knowledge Test to Stay in Aberdeen

Councillors have voted to retain the Street Knowledge Test for pre-booked private hire drivers, rejecting calls for it to be scrapped.

Several business groups, had argued that the test was no longer necessary for private hire drivers who only carry out pre-booked journeys and cannot pick up passengers from taxi ranks.

And Aberdeen City Council earlier this year launched a consultation on the many facets of the taxi trade following years of complaints about shortages.

Around 1,800 people took part in the survey, and more backed maintaining the Street Knowledge Test for private hire drivers than wanted it scrapped.
