⚠️⛔️⚠️⛔️⚠️⛔️⚠️⛔️⚠️
I’ve just had something come to my attention that is important for visitors to our area to know…
Below is a screenshot from google if you search ‘gleneagles taxis’, pay attention to the addresses if you have clicked the link.
The first listing is actually Stirling Taxis, I’ve known about this one for some time. What this potentially means for you if you call this firm is that when your car arrives it’ll already be sitting with £45-£60 on the meter, depending on the time of day, if you are travelling away from Stirling. Although I don’t agree with the advertising cross county it is actually completely legal.
The second listing is new to me and is a 3rd party booking agency based in Coventry. They very likely have similar websites for other train stations and airports up and down the country that all redirect to the same place, what looks to be an online booking form. All this company does is book your travel for a fee, they have no cars, no drivers and no affiliation with local firms.
Tonight I’ve taken a passenger on a £35 journey that was booked with me through this 3rd party, I had 2 last night for the first time, so tonight prompted me to ask a few questions. The customer paid £45 through this site. These prices would only inflate dramatically if they had to source an out of town car.
Unfortunately again this is completely legal but it’s worth knowing that going direct with a local firm will save you money.
